Excellent article. Seems to have fond memories of Pompey. Terrible his gambling addiction. It ruins so many lives and he’s right that it’s everywhere now and people are encouraged to gamble more and more while the betting companies make trillions and pretend to be concerned about ‘responsible gambling’.

He was also on Radio 4 yesterday morning talking about his suicide attempts. Very sad.

There are suburbs where loads of shops have closed but there are several betting shops. It's on a par with drugs in terms of addiction.
