“We know there is no better finisher than Tyler Walker”

Who knows, if people stopped trying to destroy his confidence he may just return to being the natural finisher he has been for the past 3 or 4 years .

But I agree he has been disappointing so far, but not the first striker we've had to take a few games to get into their stride.
How many games has he played here, a handful? He sees what he can do in training so he's either trying to build up his confidence to translate that to match day or he's blowing smoke up his arse to get him to kick in to gear.
Look at Werner at Chelsea, paid a huge amount for him from Germany so there must be a good player in there somewhere, but he just looks complete cack at Chelsea!
Let's give the lad a chance.
Play Walker again on Sat, but no more than 60 mins unless he's starred. Then bring on Harness (who after all is our top scorer this season)
I thought Cowley said Marquis was the best forward he’d worked with.

He made more ridiculous comments about what a great goal scoring threat Hirst is too.

What is wrong with a manager trying to boost a player's confidence by saying nice things about them.

Would you rather he said they were shyte ?

I’d rather he didn’t sign shite players to be honest but if he must then perhaps be a bit more sensible. A striker who has never scored a goal is not a great finisher else he would have finished at some point. Perhaps he could highlight the good part of his game instead. You wouldn’t say a blind person could see really well.
blind people famously develop other senses, so hopefully a non scoring striker will become world class at lay offs and the rest. Model himself on Sherringham or Beardsley who both did score but were more famous for set ups.
It's the teacher in him. He would tell someone 4 foot tall that they have every chance.lg being able to slamp dunk a basketball through a 10 foot hoop.
I’d be as happy as any Pompey fan for Walker to come good - but last night he looked apathetic and positionally clueless yet again in the area. Just do what you are paid (a hell of a lot by all accounts) to do. Don’t take the piss for the next few months - the one thing the fans demand above anything is effort. He’s not doing it. Whittingham was pulling him up in that last night. By now he should be.

I actually warm to Cowley as an individual but I don’t like the psychobabble which we hear over and over again - it didn’t work with Marquis or Azzeez (?) for example. If it were me I’d be giving him the Fergie treatment by now and - we know which of the 2 managers has man managed players better.
How about this from today's News then...
"I thought Tyler had a couple of good chances against Burton, which is a positive for us because we know if he gets them, he’ll take them."

An absolute classic where Cowley seems to have got so caught up in his own soundbites he seems completely unaware of the nonsense this sentences makes.

To quote Black Adder, 'Ah...yes, but that was just a joke, and a brilliant one'
Ffs Gerry I can't unsee that now!
OMG it's another cotterill...
The more I hear and see of Danny Cowley, the more I'm utterly unimpressed, unconvinced and uninspired.

And that's a few un"s...

But just so long as you stay humble and honest and make intelligent, thoughtful decisions...

I can only assume he's out to impress himself and his mum when he does interviews and have always found in life that the more someone has to say the less they actually know; DC seems to be a shining example with his blinding them with bullshit approach.

I thought about "British Perrin" but then decided to settle on "League 1 Tony Adams".

He was also a talky Desmond specialist.

I suppose at least Tony played the game and was best-in-class in his position.
Tony Adams now there's a strange one. Tremendous player and great captain, I thought he'd make good manager material. Yet it turned out I couldn't have been more wrong, and additionally when he spoke he came across as a bit odd, it was a shame.
