"Pompey's League One match at Crewe on Saturday has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
A local referee inspected the surface on Friday morning and deemed it unsafe, with temperatures expected to fall even lower this evening.

A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course."
Is there a case for all clubs in the top four tiers to be required to have undersoil heating and effective drainage in addition to passing all the current ground regulations?

That way there would be no fixture pile up.

I see Oxford have put their game back by 24 hours to use the rising temperatures. Could Crewe have done the same or is their pitch beyond hope that soon?
It could of helped, but we have a Match on Tuesdays well.

Surely it would make sense that any top four division club digging their pitch up in the summer installs undersoil heating, we have done that at least twice in the last 3 years but I don't think that we have done it - although we do now have a sprinkler system.

Perhaps Sky, BT, EPL or EFL between them should fund it for all clubs as and when they are relaying their pitches.
