When you look at the prize money for the EFL Cup, you can see why clubs don't bother too much with it. No prize money at all until the semi-finals. Crowds tend to be a long way down on a league game so not even that much to be made from gate receipts. Clearly not much financial cost to Carabou to get all that publicity. It's never been a good competition for us so maybe I am biased against it. Still, will never forget that night at Liverpool...
Agreed! The only difference this season maybe, is we have a decent sized squad with players who could do with competitive action so extra games in this might be useful for them. A win tonight and an attractive home tie in round 3 might be a good thing.
As mentioned good work out/ game time for fringe players plus the chance to be drawn against a big club .
or more likely a big club's reserves
Even better. We might win again.
win tonight, get a decent away game at a big club or bring one here under the lights. Kenny made about a million and a half to send on players by taking cups seriously. A third of that to spend in January would be handy.
AGREED Hammie - right on !
Well that didn’t work out!

Less chance for squad players to get more competitive match time in. What a shame.
Shoulda played Josh 2
Oh well, look on the positives - Win the league, and a decent FA Cup run.
