Not sure what happens about Tuesday nights game?

Fkn ridiculous. How is it a sign of respect to cancel games and deny people the opportunity to watch a game of football. As well as people who work for clubs, alot of who desperately need the money in this time just to live. We have another 10 days of mourning, god knows what else will be cancelled in that time.

Tend to agree, don't see how cancelling enjoyment is showing respect. Don't think the queen would have wanted that.
She loved sport and understood what it means.  She hated missing Ascot
No better respect to have a ground full of people showing respect for 5/10 mins and celebrating her life.

They are being postponed not cancelled ffs.

Can't we just agree the game is cancelled tomorrow, but not indefinitely?
It's my mother's funeral next week. I'm trying to lead as normal a life as possible while mourning her loss. Life goes on.
Sorry to hear that.

No, we can't.  If you cancel an event it never happens , if you postpone it then it happens later.

Yes very sorry to hear that mate, losing your mum is always traumatic.

Well no.

The game can be postponed indefinitely but if it’s cancelled it will not take place ever.

Cancelled means cancelled.

My condolences mush.
Tough time I know.

Sad news, best wishes mate.
I know from experience it's an awful time to go through, but over time you will learn to cope with her loss.

A day off, to celebrate the life of a good woman who dedicated herself to serving her country, is a reasonable celebration of that life. Why does is have to be prolonged and drawn out?

Be interesting to see if all the Royalists want to see if they pay the 40% inheritance tax the rest of us have to swallow.
I haven't even got a problem with the financial side of it. They're an expensive circus act but I get that the rest of the world are prepared to pay the ticket price.

I just don't see why the country has to stop just because the inevitable has happened.
Out of curiosity, when the ads came on during Star Trek last night, I channel-hopped to see who had decided to stop broadcasting out of "respect" and was delighted to see that, while many channels had blank screens, the passing of our monarch wasn't quite enough to take CatchPhrase (ITV4) or re-runs of Bullseye off air. Long live light entertainment.
Disgraceful. Isn't it?

All entertainment should be stopped straight away. Theatres shut, cinemas closed and pubs should lock their doors.

What's the fucking difference????
Come on!

After Diana, the Queen Mum and Phil the Greek we all knew this was going to happen.

Welcome to the 17th century.

I think you and a few others on this site are definitely in the minority as far as the rest of the country is involved.

The royal family are unelected and have no place in modern politics. Why should anyone have any respect for the position of monarch?

The family names of Saxe Coburg and Hanover say everything one needs to know about how much claim any of them has to be a monarch of the UK!

OK.  Calm down Trotsky.
Aside from what in reality is a needless postponement (don't forget those who may have already invested in the cost of a long trip and maybe a stop-over, not to mention a rearrangement of a distant away game midweek) - I'm more worried our current form will dip after 2 weeks without a game. It would be so Pompey.

Chuckle
Briefcase is actually …drumroll… Nicholas Witchell!
Where do I claim my £5?
Perhaps we should all just do what we would have been doing, but just feel a bit sad.
bluetagagain Wrote:Of course it would and has been done for presidents of America, France etc.

Presidents are elected. By the time they croak they have usually been out of office a good few years.

The most they get are a few kind words and a small motorcade to see them off to the crem.

I'd rather mourn for stayinupforever's mum - someone I can at least relate to!

But then what do we do if we score? Sigh?
once in seventy years is a better reason than some.
Crystal Palace Brighton as the trains were off
Chelsea/Man City as some of their millions of players are away playing internationals
Other teams as they have too many players out injured or even worse reason suspended.
GSTK got a ring to it
Fkin hell I thought I had fallen on a Celtic or Liverpool forum, not a Portsmouth one.
