I'm as frustrated as everyone else right now. The team has no character or method of play. I want our own contracted players to play - not loanees from other clubs. We should be developing or improving our own players. Most of our loanees have been mediocre. More to the point, they don't allow me to fully support them as part of our history/journey as they will be moving on at season's end.
Bazunu? Carter? Romeo?

I am Cowley out now (ffs) but he has loaned well to be fair

Yes, Bazunu and Carter were good players for us. Pity we didn't sign them. My point is they will never be recognised as Pompey players because they were loans.
unless they get us into at least the play offs, then any loan has been a failure.
I can cope with young players making mistakes, as long as they are here long enough for us to benefit from their learning on the job.
If they belong to someone else and we are not in the promotion picture as a result of their being here, then what exactly is the benefit to Pompey?
The loan system was designed to benefit both clubs & the player.

But what appears to happen is that they are learning their trade at our expense.

If they are really good we can't afford the transfer fee or their wages.

The real problem is that clubs like Pompey don't have a large enough playing budget so couldn't attract enough contract players in the Summer.

Ask yourself, how many players did we get outbid for by mediocre teams including stockport County?

And for balance there have been some bad ones or good ones that he simply doesn’t play which I guess makes them bad.
You can't build a squad with a new nipper in goal every season. Especially when your best defender likes to regularly drop clangers and the other two CB's you have, one is always out injured and the other is a new 1 season recruit.

It's these planning failures that see us where we are. It's a complete mess.
Loans should be abolished.
Just distorts everything.
Go out and sign your squad and fuck the Premier hoovering clubs

I agree - as good as some loans have been, and others not, they ultimately don't have any agenda but impressing their parent club and fulfilling obligations, with no extended interest in what happens when they're gone.

But I also agree with Isaac's comment that loans should be abolished, because unless that happens across the board, without loans we'd be lacking higher-league class against clubs that use them.

Zoo: I agree with you. But let's look at the "higher-league class" you think we'd be lacking without our loans:

Griffiths - I'd rather we developed Josh Oluwayemi. From what I've seen, he is just as good.
Koroma - Supposedly worth 2M euros - you are having a laugh! I'm not particularly a Curtis fan, but Koroma is no upgrade.
Scarlett - One diving header, otherwise no end product. Why do we play him? Reminds me of Hirst but without the talent.
Pigott - Good loan if we make Ipswich an offer in January. (500K euros).
Dale - Headless chicken. Rather we developed Reeko as a right winger.

Not sure if I've forgotten anyone.
that seems to sum it up for me.
At least Hughes seems to agree from his recent comments.
Hopefully he also agrees with the general feeling about our managers
Isn’t Reeco very left footed to be a right winger?

Not sure about being very left footed, but yes he is left footed. I seem to recall him being effective when playing centrally or on the right though.
You seem to recall??

Chuckle.

HT for manager.

I know its xmas but you should off the drink a bit mush
Isn't it a fact that we play wingers on the wrong wing foot wise, or is there another reason why they ALL cut inside almost all of the time.
Curtis, cut in
Koroma, not a winger so goes central
Dale seems to spend most of his energy running across the pitch often at an angle towards his own goal.

It really isn’t.

Just a figure of speech.  Smile
Back to the OP. Payday loans were always shit. Glad they’ve gone bust- parasites.
Just one example I read that Chelsea have 20 players out on loan (Crazy) including the MK Keeper we didn't test enough Saturday.
The rich get richer, the poor get poorer
Bring back reserves leagues.

the clear and long term reason for the Prem.
Why I would ahve been delighted to see the Euro league happen and the rich handful disappear into the sunset
I’d ideally like to see the Sky money pulled from the Premier league. It all went downhill with the greed.
Need to introduce a salary cap in step with ground capacity.

Needs to treat BIKs as salary in cash terms.

When a top player is capped to a top salary, we solve the problem.

If a player wants to go to a different league to play, let them.

If the FA start, Ligue 1, the Bundesliga, La Liga and ultimately UEFA will follow, followed in turn by FIFA.

Within a decade, problem solved.
