If we loan they play against who we want?

It's bullshit it's the other way around.

TIf that's the way it is then send them back, they don't have our best interests at heart.

Have to agree, its not as if they are likely to use them in the FA Cup anyway.
Who don’t have our best interest at heart? The club loaning them? Of course they don’t. The player? It’s not his choice.
Stop it.
Think about it and let it settle, then answer.
If the loan isn't to our favour then its to someone else's!
It's our name on the door.
Thompson recalled in Jan and our season went to shit and who the fick are Millwall?
They didn't want him!!
Its all wrong and sends wrong signals. The league should stop these bullshit deals.
Millwall didn't want Thompson? Go and give your head a wobble mush, he played 80+ games for them between returning from Pompey and leaving on loan to Gillingham a couple of seasons later.

And who are Millwall? Last time I looked they were an established Championship side whereas Pompey aren't.

Weird logic.
I do agree we need to see loans curtailed. But all the time the likes of Chelsea are allowed and encouraged to recruit all the young talent then the FA/league will continue to allow them to loan out all the ones they don't really want. Would be far better if they could only keep a set number and had to release the rest permanently. Coule always sell them on with a first option to buy in the future.
It's not weird logic, it would stop all the big clubs getting all gge young prospects.
Or if they are loaned, then they are loaned for a season, no recall and no sending them back when injured.
We basically get a year long deal for tge player.
Too many sides send out players sbd then recall them in Jan if they are doing well. See Cosgrove and Whittaker at Plymouth for instance.

It is weird logic if you think the club loaning the player are doing so for our benefit. Of course they aren’t, it’s for their benefit to either bring a player on or get them off the wage bill.

Piggot is on a season long loan with no recall.

Last night, Chelsea made a £35 million signing for some Monaco bloke and it made me think what is the point of all those academies, u-23 leagues, kid franchises (like the one in Pompey) and loan signings littered all over the world? They mow up talent like a blue whale devours plankton and have no real intention of playing them. Some get lucky if their club has a transfer ban but for the most part it's about young players doing a Wayne Bridge and accepting high wages in return for a hopeful bench seat in a low round of the league cup/Europa league. It must be so frustrating for those with actual ambition when their club spunks more cash on a foreign unknown rather than focusing on their huge reservoir of players.

We got Matt Clarke for £5 million. Never played a game for Brighton. Not even on the bench. Spend years on loans until they got so bored they ended up selling them. It's not right and yes I know Pompey would do the same in that position - it's a Premier League disease thats killing football.
