Is back into training. That'll be like another January signing for us if his hamstring injury is finally over. When he limped off against Plymouth we were 1-0 up and 2nd in the league!
Curtis has also been cleared of any ligament damage and expected back next week.
Things looking up finally?!
In the short spells I have seen him, he has been an absolute gem. Great awareness, balance, creative. Can PASS THE BALL! But I'm not holding my breath.
Apart from that little cameo against Hereford in the FA Cup he has had over four months out with a grade one hamstring tear. I'm no physio, but have been playing and following footie long enough to ask the question: HOW is that possible?? Louis had a broken leg and was back quicker. Hughes is Sporting Director so I hope he is getting to the bottom of why his rehab is taking so long.

He’s had 2 tears hasn’t he?
He came back once but broke down in training which begs the question, 'why'?

It's possible because there are four hamstring muscles .... the one he tore was a very rare tear which needed plasma injections to speed the healing process.

Just bad luck, injuries happen, they don't have to be anyone's fault and you dont have to attach blame to anyone when the recovery process is not a smooth one.

I disagree. On a one off basis you can have outliers where the recovery does not go as planned. However if you consistently have issues it then becomes statistically improbable/impossible that it is down to luck. Hence why the club did an investigation and review. Something along the process was fucking up and destroying the season.

I would argue that also part of the problem was the strategy to sign players with proven awful injury records. Theb add on to that an insufficient medical programme, you end up exactly where we are right now

Nothing to do with luck whatsoever.
Well, you both could be partly correct.
I would like to know your source, DeepB for the claim that  it was "a very rare tear which needed plasma injections". I understood it was a standard grade one. At least that is what I read. But it's possible there was an element of 'bad luck' somewhere down the line.
And, Pedalo, I can't see anything in his background that suggests that he had a poor injury record before he came here.
So the spotlight inevitably turns to the management of the injury.

The first 1 was a grade 1 tear, the 2nd wasn’t.
IF only it is true.

A MEGA boost for us coupled with our recent arrivals, and the 'posterial' boost to existing , lesser performing, members of the group !

My source was the interview with Cowley from the News

and the richard hughes interview

Where’s your source that says it was only a grade one tear, Gerry?
I love a cited and sourced tear up. I'm here for it.

1b to be specific.
There have been several references to it. here's one:

Yes, I hadn't seen the second one with Hughes that nails it. Bit of a contrast with Cowley's earlier take that it was 'a very low level' injury. Looks like they're doing everything they can including buying a specialist piece of equipment.
Hope he comes back the same player. Specialist, long-term injuries can have an impact on all sorts of things, mental as well as physical.
Looks like we need a referee. Where's Ricky?
despite all the above.
I guess we can all agree that IF we can get Lowery back and fit and playing for the rest of the season

We have a far better chance of making the playoffs.

Rafferty would be nice too, but Swansom is developing with every game, good or bad.
Bet ya 2P he'll ( Lowery) be in the squad Saturday.

not sure I'd risk my cash, not being a gambler
but will happily put 2p in a charity tin if he is
What a bench then IF Rafferty and Lowery come back . J
Just goes to show how injuries affect the season.
Above average injury issues in this club methinks. Not victim blaming the players here but if you focus your "broken toys" recruitment policy on players with above average injury records, don't be surprised if your season breaks down if your head coach overtrains them
