Another 2 points chucked away, and the way we conceded the 2 goals resembled a relegation team rather than a promotion one, they just ran straight threw us, the first was comical when a player who is on the floor, can still come away with the ball and seconds later it's the goal.  At least with Lang we may score a few more goals other than Bishops 2 feet tap ins or 12 yard spot kicks. How we are still top has me scratching my head. The pressure should be on the chasing teams to catch us up, but we're now in a position where Bolton, Peterborough and Derby can sit back and wait for us to drop points every other week, let's face it they can each outscore us without really trying. We wonder why we always have a bad Xmas/January, the answer is simple by the time we've played all the teams once they've sussed us out and we've had a manager that can't or won't play any other way.

Mousihno has got to be really careful now, and make some big decisions, ditch this persistent tactic of tippy tappy football up to the 18 yard line with the hope that it might find it's way to Bishop, because lets face it he sure as hell ain't going to chase back for it is he. Norris is now being found out, first half of the season when we had Poole, the defence was protecting him, now we are seeing what he's really like. Quite a few Ipswich fans were not impressed when we signed him, he had about 4 starts for them before he was ditched.

Peterborough/Bolton: top 2, Derby: play off winners.
Change your pissy mattress and put your big boy pants back on. We are going up.
1st - Bolton
2nd Pompey
Play offs - CGAF
We're in a great position - 60 points from 30 with 2 extra home games in our favour!

Win at home, draw away and we'll hit 94 points.

We have the best defence in the league (conceded less goals than games played). Derby regularly drop points at home, Posh are no great shakes on the road and remain occupied by paint pot fixtures while Bolton have a tough grudge match at home to Barnsley on Saturday (lost to them in play-offs last season) with both of their two best defenders, Santos and Toal injury doubts awaiting scans.

Just need 100% unconditional support to roar us over the line!
There have been many seasons where I would have agreed with the OP. Not this season though! WE ARE GOING UP!
We'll see where we are at the end of February.
We’ll see where we are in May.

I couldn’t give a fuck where we are at the end of February.
And if you wet the bed again, I'm going to rub your nose in it and tell all your school friends. Sorry just venting some childhood trauma.
We don't look like a table topping team right now, quite capable of 2nd.
On the other hand if we have had our bad run of injuries and get some players back fully fit such as Scully, Og, Yengi, plus the new signings, then we could go on a rather more impressive run quite easily given our miserly defense.
7 points from a possible 9 is a pretty poor return, understandable that some on here are wetting the bed.

its odd how we are still getting points but never quite getting out of first or second gear. That's where the hope is for me, if we actually put it together, we might just put some goals in to get the goal difference up where we need t to be.
This team isn't strong enough to go up without Poole and Robertson.

It's as simple as that. End of conversation

Poole was a big loss - but with the return of Ogilvie & new signing McIntyre we have plenty of options in defence - just need to get Rafferty & Swanson fit now.

Once Peart-Harris gets up to speed 2/3 matches he is more than adequate replacement for Robertson. There is early promise in Lang (as long as he isn't forced to go tippy tappy & cuts out dozy back heels).

Yengi will be back in a couple of weeks & we have Moxon as decent midfield cover coming in.

We may have been hit with injuries but hopefully other teams with not so strong squads will be as well.

Keep the faith Titchy moosh !!

Seven points from 3 consecutive away games isn't bad. My worry is that when we do win we don't kill teams off, with 2 or more clear goals difference. As has already been said, Bishop is ok with the odd tap-in or penalty, but we need better, and we are simply not clinical enough when it counts.

We will win automatic promotion by being consistent from here on, but this also depends on how the other team's consistency plays out.

If we do get promoted, we will need some strikers that can live at Premiership level, because at present we are only barely adequate at League 1 level, certainly as far as the attack is concerned.  Blush Confused

Is there a mirror involved?
I don't think 7 points from 9 in away games is too bad - more like promotion form.

Additionally, not many top eight sides wouldn't swop our remaining fixtures - especially with 9 games at home.

Your one must have cracked when you looked in it  Big Grin
The recruitment team have done what they can to control the controllables. When was the last time we were top at the start of February? How long since we've been out of the top two?

Those teams behind us have to win those games in hand and as we've seen this season no one is putting a consistent long run together. Everyone has bad results in their locker.

It's no time to be a cheese eating surrender monkey. Get in the sea with your pessimism.
Come on mate!

Pull your socks up.

Think positive - no reason why we can't go up.

No team wins every game.

If we can all back the players 100% then it will make a big difference.
Think we all need a Reality Check. The wheels came off over the Xmas period but we could all see it coming so the bad results were No surprise. Since then we've ground out a couple of good away wins & a bit unlucky with the Oxford Draw.
The Recruitment team backed by ME have done a brilliant job getting in 5 new faces who all look good players. Lang has already shown what he can do & scored. We just need to keep the faith & JM has to be a lot more flexible in his team formations & tactics. It's horses for coarses depending on the opposition starting with Northampton tomorrow. No more tippy tappy stuff with No end product. Move the ball quicker to get the opposition having to defend more. More crosses into the box & better set plays. 2 up front Bishop & Lang to bang in the goals. Tighten up at the back especially at RB position. Need to improve Goal Difference dramatically as that could be vital come May. PUP we can do it!
we have 5 winable games in february, so anything above 10 points will be fantastic, March will be a tough test with Oxford, blackpool, burton peterborough Barnsley & wigan , so win our home games and we will be there or thereabouts, keep the faith

Lang is not a striker so no way will he play up front with Bishop in a 2.

He'll either play wide replacing Kamara or Lane, or in a number 10 role behind Bishop like he did on Tuesday.
God, this is a doom thread
What marks him out as not being a striker?
(02-02-2024, 04:50 PM)Cunninglinguist Wrote: [ -> ]What marks him out as not being a striker?

The fact that he plays as a winger or as a number 10 behind the striker.
