I think most of us are unsure quite what we coach if anything.
I would suggest working on breaking quickly and keeping the ball going forward. We have so many good potential breaks spoilt by one of our players (any of them) stopping and passing backwards.
Add poor control / first touch as well.
Whatever our coaches do, it seems to have resulted in two of our better talents, Curtis and Harness, becoming peripheral to the games they play in.

Curtis looked a real find, quick, determined and with quite a few goals in his boots, destined to play Championship football. Now he seems unsure, prone to playing the wrong ball (but never the less committed to the Pompey cause). He should have been developed into a very saleable asset (and we are a selling club) but, instead, looks like someone who might have told his agent to start finding another club where he has an opportunity to get his career back on the road

Much the same can be said for Harness, brilliant on his day (well, in L1 terms) but he doesn’t seem to have kicked on at all. The trickery and running at defenders which left defences and defenders all at sea has all but evaporated.

Mnoga has pace, determination and an attacking bent....but not much else but, there is something about him worth developing surely. So often caught out of position, wrong footed and stranded he needs a lot of game management coaching for starters but nothing seems to have happened at all.

Of course some of the blame doubtless lies with the three players but the lack of skills development, knowledge of game management and motivation should be laid at the door of the coaching staff and the manager.

Absolutely correct on all above points.
