Deserves some credit for improvements at the club in recent years. He is a step up from Catlin.
Yep....all credit to the man.

(shame he has zero personality and could bore the hind legs off a donkey when being interviewed. Not that that really matters!)

He's had a lot less to deal with than Catlin, who joined us at our lowest ebb and deserves a lot of credit for starting us off on the road to recovery, without big money backing him.

We should give them both a lot of credit IMO.
Definitely. Quiet, efficient delivery wins out over charismatic, feel-good failure every time.
Deserves credit for increasing Pompey's "match day revenue" for sure
Not competing like with like circumstances. Both great in their own way. No need for one to be better than the other.

Catlin did very well with that Webster deal where we got a fee, got Clarke and a sell on fee. Some of his other work was rather less impressive. He seemed to struggle to think outside of his limited frame of reference (Millwall basically) at times and was one of the people responsible for the standoffish "Millwall mafia" atmosphere at the club. He was the right man when we were in the doldrums but doesn't have that extra layer of professionalism that you need at a modern football club.
As much as I thought it was a good deal at the time, and as good as Clarke was....Ipswich will rightly claim they got the better out of it having sold on Webster.
That deal was a win win for everyone.

Chaplin to Coventry only for them to flip him so soon after though, awful business in my view. Bought for 500k and according to the following link sold for over a million 12 months later https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/fo...in-1752785
