I think I'm with Tuffers. With a night to think on it; this just feels like a way to negotiate even more of the cake for themselves if they cancel the whole thing.
If a team is playing in EuroBigFranchise on the Wednesday and LowlyPrem on a Saturday there is no way they can fulfill Prem's rule L19 - every club must put out their strongest side. Points deductions just for this would see them all relegated after the first season.

But they'll have bottomless pots of money so will be able to each hoard even more players than they do now, not to mention hoovering up every young player on the continent who shows even a whiff of potential.
It doesn't matter how much they give Real Madrid or Barcelona, they'll still go through it all in two transfer windows. Then what are they are going to do? Madrid already sold a chunk of their training ground in a super-dodgy deal with the government - and burned through that in no time at all. This whole exercise is all about debt, which is maybe why Citeh and Chelsea are getting cold feet, they already have bottomless pots of money.
I wonder if the 14 other PL clubs meeting today will have the authority to impose their own sanctions on the SL clubs?

Dead right Tuffers.

The finances of both clubs are dodgy, especially Real. They are supported in their profligate spending by the government which has been illegally propping them up.

The football authorities should have taken action years ago but haven’t got the bottle for it, or are bought off by brown envelopes full of cash, or both.

The stench of corruption is overwhelming.

You are both right.  In 2001 Florentino Pérez sold Madrid's training ground to the city for 480 million euros, and ACS (guess who the president of this company is..??) was then awarded a contract to build three high- rise flats there.

Technically Real Madrid and Barcelona are owned by their members and its a line they both like to peddle when comparing themselves to the likes Of Chelsea and City. In reality Real Madrid has become, with the help of his excellent networking skills and political connections, Florentino Pérez's own personal plaything. Barcelona's recently re-elected  president Joan Laporta, another one with an extremely high opinion of himself, failed to mention anything about a superleague in his election campaign. Both clubs are morally and financially bankrupt and the super league is their get out of jail card. Morality can do one as far as they are concerned
Big Grin In my book football doesn’t get simpler than, if it gives the residents of the vile village any chance of winning anything (even the tiniest chance counts) then it needs obliterating. Big Grin A premier league without the top six means that finishing seventh wins you a league title! And those cakey coonts are, maybe, capable of finishing seventh at least twice in a hundred years. On that score and that score alone it needs resisting at every level. Big Grin
Interesting breaking news is A madrid court has ruled  Eufa and Fifa cannot take action against the clubs or players involved in the new league until it fully considers the case,

Not sure what their authority or jurisdiction is but it is obvious one of the big money makers in this mess will be the lawyers.

Prem league rules state that clubs can only compete in certain named competitions so this s storm is going to run for a long time.
We Brexited. Duck the Spanish court; the PL, FA, or aggrieved broadcasters protesting the diminution of the product they contracted to show can bring whatever legal action they choose against UK teams in UK courts.
just refuse work permits and visas simples.
Big protests out side of Stanford bridge and rumours that Chelsea have withdrawn from the soopa league.
If one or two teams can be leaned on enough to change their minds, the whole thing will collapse.
chelsea fans blocked the team buses getting in. Good for them. Some proper fans left after all! Liverpool fans next?
Doesn’t look like Pompey will make big 6 after all
Well that didn’t last long. Citeh are following Chelsea and pulling out, spuds are feeling a bit sheepish and looks like they’ll do the same. Word is Atletico are also losing interest.

Be interesting to see what the Glazers, FSG and Kroenke will do now - they really don’t like the risk of being out of the CL - do they try and force it, pull back and regroup or get out of the Prem altogether.

Would be nice to think that Prem appreciated the wall of protest across the whole pyramid and increase the crumbs the lower divisions receive.
