Cambridge Lowlights - mikey393 - 04-01-2022

Just watched this which highlighteed various points:

1) Hackett was dreadful lost the ball in the area they nearly scored, his finishing is dreadful & can't cross decently.
2) Hirst gave it plenty of effort but Not a consistent goalscorer. Better coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes end of a game.
3) Curtis is Not a Central Striker he's a winger who used to cut inside & score goals regularly. Let's get in another winger & play two wide men like previously with Lowe & Curtis.
4) Jacobs is our one class midfielder & should be th efirst name on the team sheet if fit. We looked 100% better when he came on & came closet to scoring. DC Don't sell him this month build the team round him. Azeez can be used as back up & is slowly adapting to Div 1 hurly burly.
5) Team were ring rusty & need sharpening up so play a full strength team against Exeter - 2 Up top. Take it very seriously & score a few goals for team morale.

Sermon over but we need to improve & push on to the Play Offs!

Totally agree re Friday - start the same eleven at ' Ter and hope confidence is bred.

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - mikey393 - 05-01-2022

I see Wigan scored 6 away at Oldham in the PJ Cup. That's the sort of score we should be aiming for on Friday. Be ruthless & restore confidence.

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - Hammie - 05-01-2022

Are we not playing Saturday too?

Wigan are stil in the cup. Keep up.

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - Hammie - 05-01-2022

With so few games, its harder to keep up than when we are getting on with it. Not helped by the OS still showing it as a fixture with PP in the corner.

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - dsmg - 05-01-2022

Mikey? Do we have people capable of finding the net six times??? Heart says yesss, head says nooo

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - Hammie - 05-01-2022

if we score 6 on Friday we will have used up our quota for the month.
I seem to recall that our last player to get a hat trick has not played since

What's wrong with the OS showing a postponed game as postponed ?

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - Hammie - 05-01-2022

a little pp is easily missed when you are not looking for it.

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - blueandwight - 05-01-2022

I think there needs to be a note of realism injected into some of these comments; especially on the back of ten games undefeated in the league. Cowley has done a really good job since the Ipswich defeat with only very limited resources. After all we have gone close to four months with only one recognised central defender and conceded just four goals in the last nine matches. There's only one player I'd have back and that's Jack Whatmough; otherwise with the likes of Ogylvie, Morrell, Romeo and Co we're better off than we were tis time last year.

You can point the finger at Cowley because we're struggling to find the back of the net and tactically there are some valid points but he wasn't the one who brought in Marquis and Harrison for close to £1.5million and made them our best paid players. He has tried to unload them but as it is he'd have to give them away and, in any case, they'll sit tight for the next six months because they are never going to earn that type of money again!

I'm going to discount covid because essentially that's the same for everyone.

His other major hurdle is the Eisners because to turn this side into a play-off team would only require a relatively modest layout for multi-millionaires...perhaps two strikers or a striker and another central defender. The fact is that dressed up in the guise of sustainability they don't really want promotion and, from their perspective, financially it makes more sense to potter along in the top half of League One because they know that 16/17,000 will turn up religously every week. In four years they've learnt enough to know that they will always turn up in good numbers. In some ways you can't really blame them especially as they are never really going to understand english league football and the bond between the club and the fans, as well as the ambition to see us play at a higher level where we rightfully belong.

Blueandwight is right. Lots of people in Anaheim can vouch for that

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - Hammie - 05-01-2022

They are spending plenty but sadly having to catch up for all the previous rotten or even criminal owners.
A good dose of watching Anne or Video of the Bradford fire might remind some of us why sorting the ground has to be priority number one.
Most importantly the money they are spending is not in the from of debt or loans to be recalled later. Every time we've gone bust, repaying a previous owner has been a massive part of it.

RE: Cambridge Lowlights - mikey393 - 05-01-2022

Yes, me being a bit over optimistic but who knows what may happen!

Realistically 3-0 would be great fielding our best team & even better with the strikers finding the back of the net.

Agreed the Eisners need to put in some investment this window to give us a good chance of reaching the play offs then go for the 3rd promotion place.

I fail to see how watching the Princess Royal could possibly be advantageous.
