The Three Keys - blueandwight - 09-03-2022

We had to win on Saturday and last night to give ourselves any sort of chance of the play-offs.
We've acheived that with ease but in mountaineering terms we've only reached 'base camp'.
The management team and the players deserve full credit for taking nineteen points from just seven games.
My view (and doubtless many others) is that there at least three key elements for reaching this position.
Firstly is the size of the squad. Seen by many as an acute disadvantage but there is an increasing feeling that the important players are available and, more importantly, it gives DC less of a chance to tinker and introduces more consistency. I like DC but it has to be said but this has worked to our advantage. This is something we can than thank the Eisners for!
Secondly, as an integral part of the first point, is very clearly experience. We can talk endlessly about the academy and bringing in younger players but the basis of our current success is experienced pro's, many of which have played at a higher level, such as Romeo, Thompson, Tunnicliffe, Robertson, O'Brien and Morrell added to guys playing at the top of threir games such as Ogilvy, Raggett and Hurst...there's two if not three candidates for PotY there providing they stay fit.
Finally, at last probably for the first time in a couple of years we have two committed strikers giving us a stack full more options and far greater threat to opposition defences.
Now comes the real test over the next five games.
