Energy rationing imminent - TBP - 03-04-2022

Grant Shapps has stated categorically that there will be no energy rationing. So we are two weeks away from it. Now to find out the real reason for the installation of the smart meters.
What's the difference between a conspiracy theory and reality? About two weeks.

Obviously energy rationing is entirely possible, though unlikely.

Wtf has that got to do with smart meters though?

RE: Energy rationing imminent - Tufnell_Chimes - 03-04-2022

Surely smart meters were installed to replace the huge cost of maintaining an army of meter readers. Not everything is a conspiracy.

RE: Energy rationing imminent - Cressers - 04-04-2022

Do give a rest. It'll be better for your mental wellbeing when all these conspiracies fail to materialise.

RE: Energy rationing imminent - teeftwo - 04-04-2022

Smart meters can't turn off your supply you muppet.

You’re not smart enough to have a smart meter.

Some of you lot also love just saying 'conspiracy', about anything you don't like, it's like your harry potter word to make things go away.

So you didn’t see the words ‘proposed’ and ‘voluntary’ then?  Smile

I didn't say they would, but they can, turn you off remotely.

I am not saying they are 'allowed to' do it yet (And if they did the public back lash would be huge, maybe wake a few people up) .
All I am saying is its possible to do, it was a statement made "Smart meters can't turn off your supply you muppet." when they 'Can'.

Stop being obtuse.

Of course it’s possible but not with current smart meters.

"A BEIS spokesperson said: "Network companies cannot remotely "turn off" smart meters, nor could they control the amount of energy supplied to homes without the express consent of consumers."

They have to have consent, but it's possible to do (with the current smart meters) .

And you can change rules at any time, for they greater good we have seen it all in the last 2 years.

Like I have already said, I personally can't see this happening, but it is possible.

exgaffer I would also like to say you are a great person, and on point most of the time with everything you say, I think we would agree on 99% of things.

I tend not to worry about much these days 66z, except beer shortages  Smile .

Essential, worry about what IS happening, that’s plenty scary enough to be going on with  Smile .

Have fun while you still can lads.

“ I tend not to worry about much these days”

At last, some logic to your arguments. Shit the bed, moooove on, as long as there’s pubs and the football, why worry - nothing else is important.

RE: Energy rationing imminent - teeftwo - 06-04-2022

It has been lovely that Pick 'N Mix has been turned off remotely for a while.

Network companies cannot remotely "turn off" smart meters, nor could they control the amount of energy supplied to homes without the express consent of consumers. I really can't see that legislation getting passed through.

Energy companies have always been able to enter your home and disconnect you for non-payment. This happened to tenants of mine who didn't pay the gas bill, gas company had a locksmith "break into" the property and they removed the regulator.

RE: Energy rationing imminent - Isaac Hunt - 06-04-2022

Did the regulator deserve that.
Anyway what was he doing there ?

You have proven your own self wrong, with your own reply!!..
smart meters can turn you off 'remotely'!.

Read slowly you may understand.

For the hard of understanding pick 'n mix - the current generation of smart meters can't be remotely turned off. Get a grip and do try to keep up with the adults.

Im with Octopus and they've been running a scheme lately.
If you lower your engery down by 40% during certain periods which they call the 'dirty period' and achieve it you get what you've used during that period for free.   The dirty period I believe is when they have to use some non renewable resource.

One Friday they saved...
Together, we helped save the equivalent of 7.5 tonnes of CO2! That’s as much as 3
3.740 trees sequester in a year.

Meanwhile in China, India, Russia, in fact pretty much everywhere …………..

We need to start building nuclear plants and fracking asap if we don’t want the lights to go out.

RE: Energy rationing imminent - Tufnell_Chimes - 07-04-2022

There’s that fracking again, and nuclear power plants take twenty years to commission and build. Quickest, and cheapest way to self-sustaining energy is onshore wind.

But the tories won’t have them on grounds of ‘aesthetics’, so they say - nothing to do with onshore wind construction being spread across hundreds of smaller companies rather than one big provider/donor.

And burn the coal.
