RE: Cheltenham game - Hammie - 12-04-2022

our record of letting kids go who go on to success is pretty ropy. And now letting them all go pretty much suggests that there are at least one or two who would have returned a short term cheap deal.

Can we recall Dan Gifford

From a fan viewpoint, it doesn't matter if they make it or not, it's just good to see them given a chance.

Or, God forbid, we could play one of the kids.  Sorry, I forgot that they were all let go.

And they’ve all gone on to have flourishing careers……..or they just weren’t good enough.

The one flaw in that is that you cannot tell at 17/18 whether a player is going to be good enough and if they're allowed to drop down through the pyramid you'll often never know for sure what they could have achieved in the game.  The top two divisions are littered with players let go by clubs at all levels who then went on to prove that decision wrong.

It's ok giving smug replies but, maybe, a little research would help.

There’s no research required. You can’t keep everyone who isn’t good enough, they MAY go on to achieve something but a lot more don’t make it than do. Maybe you could do some research?
