Bye, Harvey.

Seems to be the new norm for Pompey.
Not sure why young players would come here actually.

I know a family in Hambledon whose kid used to go to the Pompey academy but he moved to Reading a couple of years ago and hasn't looked back.  It's organised, parents always know where their kids have to go to train and there's a pathway for them into the U18s and, ultimately, the U23s if they're good enough.  Compare that to their thoughts on Pompey's junior setup where the nicest thing they could say was that it's amateurish at best.

That's not breaking news though is it?
We've Not had a proper academy set up for ages. Reading is a good ex of a club structured properly with a sound base to build From U/18s upwards. This was the other club the Eisner's were looking at buying but Pompey was much cheaper to buy & much less wages to pay out. Sorry to say they are miles ahead of Pompey with everything from ground, manager, team structure etc; Pompey may have been a Bigger club 10 years ago but Not now.

Never mind Reading, Exeter's academy is better than ours - and has been for quite a few years producing talents such as Ollie Watkins, Matt Grimes (Swansea skipper), and Jay Stansfield (Fulham) and Liam Sercombe who scored against us on Tuesday night.
