RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Ain’t got a Danny - 03-06-2022 They seem to have a very tight budget. Be interesting to see how players wages are structured and what difference there is between say Olgivie, Raggett, Freeman and Morrell. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - slayer - 03-06-2022 Another miserable example of American ownership. They can't bring themselves to pay the going rate and get the job done, they all have to try and outdo Billy Beane RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Pompeyg100 - 03-06-2022 (03-06-2022, 01:01 PM)scumslayer Wrote: Another miserable example of American ownership. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Rocketman - 03-06-2022 Why don't clubs get together and agree no more agents fees. All money lost to the game. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Hammie - 04-06-2022 Clubs could not even agree on a sensible spending vs income structure through the leagues. It will come eventually but probably will take another few big name clubs to go into receivership or even out of business completely. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - slayer - 04-06-2022 There is no way clubs will agree a picket with each other RE: Jacobs & O'brien - bluebollox - 07-06-2022 (02-06-2022, 04:05 PM)Pompeyg100 Wrote:(02-06-2022, 03:51 PM)Cunninglinguist Wrote: Jacobs may not want to stay, regardless of the contract offered. He was quite happy to go to Ipswich last season. Pompeyg100,well Jacobs has just signed on for another year so that's one part of your theory gone for a burton. They want him, he's signed. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Pompeyg100 - 07-06-2022 Very happy to be wrong, let’s hope he plays him. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - exgaffer - 07-06-2022 Great news about Jacobs, didn’t see that one coming but very happy to be proved wrong. PUP RE: Jacobs & O'brien - ForeverPompey - 07-06-2022 Ditto the above. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Pedalo_menders - 07-06-2022 Fantastic news!!! Such an important player for us! RE: Jacobs & O'brien - slayer - 07-06-2022 Reading between the lines here I'm thinking this means Harness or Curtis are off and he got the type of contract he wanted in the end (not pay as you play). Hopefully DC plays him RE: Jacobs & O'brien - essentialmix75 - 07-06-2022 Great news. Now just start him every week please, gives us half a chance next season. PUP RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Hammie - 07-06-2022 oh no Jacobs has signed. What shall we moan about now? RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Rescue Dog - 07-06-2022 We seem to be keeping the core of lasts years post-Xmas team, add a couple of competent additions and i think we have a chance next season. PUP RE: Jacobs & O'brien - DeepBlue - 07-06-2022 The really good news from the Raggett & Jacobs deals (and maybe even Reeco too) is that the club hierarchy are making more effort to give DC what he wants, which they notably failed to do last summer. Perhaps the pursestrings have been loosened a bit to make these deals happen. . RE: Jacobs & O'brien - DeepBlue - 07-06-2022 Jacobs is a high earner, so if that deal has been extended for a year rather than the pay as you play deal offered then that would be evidence of some financial flexibility. I wonder if we will be told the nature of the deal done today. But, yes, them having gone will have made life easier. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Ain’t got a Danny - 08-06-2022 Good news. RE: Jacobs & O'brien - Pangus - 08-06-2022 I'm not getting too excited. Lets wait and see what the next few weeks bring and judge whether the owners have shown any ambition, been prepared to be competitive in the market, and finance the purchase of some decent players to give us a real chance next season.
