If memory serves me correctly, Paddy Berger was our first signing when Pompey got promoted to the Premier League. As soon as he penned a contract with us, I knew we would be alright and survive our first season. A wonderful left foot, skilful, brilliant dead ball specialist and a real match winner. The only drawback of course was his susceptibility to injuries. One of my favourite players from our Premier League era.
