Did not and will not watch the Corporate/Jihadi World Cup (100%); no matter how far England progress.

All world cups are corporate lol.

Of course, every single one, the Jihadists element is the uniquely 'beautiful' thing about this tournament.

I wish England had an anthem to equal the Welsh.
Did you see how emotionally their supporters sang theirs.

What is the reason for us having the UK national anthem.

RE: World cup - Tomsk - 22-11-2022

Wasn't Jerusalem played as the anthem at the Commonwealth Games?

RE: World cup - bluetagagain - 22-11-2022

FFS Tomsk think about the Palestinians

Great to see Steve Stone one of my all time favourite players to pull on the Pompey shirt and bollocking those around him for not working hard enough.

RE: World cup - mikey393 - 22-11-2022

Very Good opportunity for Pompey to pick up a couple of players as well.

Both Saudi Arabia & Tunia have some decent looking players & should be within our miniscule budget.

My issues with the tournament are the corruption to land the thing in the first place the 6500 foreign workers who died during the construction of the stadiums, the exploitation of said foreign workers forcing them to pay 3 months wages just to get their jobs in the first place. These Indians, Sri Lankan and Nepalese were on $70 to $100 US a week. Disgraceful

They could have come to Britain in little boats instead. So much safer.

Correct, they mainly died of dehydration and heat related issues, not gunshots to the head. Basically worked to death

RE: World cup - teeftwo - 23-11-2022

I'm not upset if anyone else is watching the WC, I just made a choice. Some people have their reasons for watching, others the opposite and not all the same reasons.

I think it's fantastic to live in a country where people can have choices to do as they want and be who they want. Not everyone is so lucky.

Shouldn't have accepted the job in the first place if it didn't pay enough to buy water

I’m guessing they didn’t realise what they were signing up for. They probably thought their employer would adequately supply something as basic to human life as water, especially in the heat and humidity of Qatar

RE: World cup - Pedalo_menders - 23-11-2022

You only get one life though. It is completely unnecessary for a country with one of the highest GDP per capita on the planet, to not look after the people building the stadia to the point where they drop down dead.

If you're desperate to get a construction job in a country that is 40 degrees +, you're probably not going be a particularly strategic thinker either. We've all had dockhead bosses before. How many of us told them to do one? Not many I think.

RE: World cup - mikey393 - 24-11-2022

Great overhead goal from Richarlison against Serbia.

But is it as good as Pitman's away at Oxford?

RE: World cup - Slagger - 29-11-2022

So, Morell hattrick against England today, then we can flog him.
