Farlington - Ain’t got a Danny - 21-12-2022

So the old St John’s college playing fields are back on the market.

Cullen says that any acquisition will need to be future proofed and not limit the academy to category 3 status. If Pompey had plans approved to build a new ground there 30 years ago there shouldn't be any problems building indoor facilities. Plus there’s room for a  good few full size pitches so on the face of it it looks promising.

Apparently because of the Geese it still can’t be developed for anything other than recreational purposes so  perhaps won’t be many in the queue to buy.

I support the geese having somewhere to eat, so the college replacing all their grass pitches with plastic not so long after that ban was very annoying.
The fact he also confirmed they are looking at the area around Norway road buying up more. The Rugby club, looking at Bristol City seems a god model.
But they are only in it to sell it on of course.

Empty talk that will go absolutely nowhere

RE: Farlington - Cunninglinguist - 21-12-2022

That would be a statement of intent.

RE: Farlington - Hammie - 21-12-2022

I don't recall much empty talk from these owners. Whatever they promise they deliver, On the pitch is disappointing and in the hands of a manger who must know that he has limited time to put it right.

It's probably a good investment whatever it is used for.

A floating island housing the new FP in Langstone harbour ? .......... as long as the bait diggers aren't affected !

Best solution here would be for the Rugby Camp to move to Farlington, and for PFC to get the Rugby camp land for one big training & academy site with potential for a category 2 academy.  There seems some doubt about whether the ST Johns site is big enough for that.

seems sensible. Unless we can arrange some sort of share with the Rugby people and have an enlarged presence around Roko.
I'm not quite sure of the Geography, but the huge playing fields that go across as far as the Sixth form college... If we were to buy that for Pompey and also the St Johns College playing fields, donated to the city as an expansion to the Farlington public fields...
Then link Norway road right across  ??
