FT report - Cunninglinguist - 14-03-2023

Very poor performance. 3 goals…how?

Good individual goals and we should have had more. Unfortunately, Accy should have had far more and they were the better team. Outshone by ten men for much of the game, there weren’t many bright moments for Pompey.

Pigott deservedly sent off for a lunging challenge on the keeper. Three games at least before his advocates get to see him again. He scored a well taken header but not enough class otherwise.

Morrell was far better in the second half and can only assume his legs were being saved for coming games. I certainly wouldn’t have replaced him with Tunnicliffe. Other players should have made way.

So, Bishop bags his 20, at his old club. A great achievement considering how poor the service has been on occasions.

Re. Pigott: If Accy hadn't been down to 10 men it would have only been a yellow. Although he had a bad first touch he had every right to go for the ball.

….we should have had more.

Huh?

RE: FT report - Cunninglinguist - 15-03-2023

Reeco’s pathetic attempt at a pass to Bishop.

If Pigott hadn’t made such a complete hash of his first touch then he wouldn’t have had to fly into such a lunging attempt to redeem himself.

Do you disagree that we should have had more?

RE: FT report - Sharpe* - 15-03-2023

Funny old game last night - had a whiff of non-league about it.

Lacking structure, a bit headless.

Both teams played better with 10 men.

Accrington were crap at shooting thankfully otherwise we would have been in trouble.

A few players were not at their best.

Macy: 7 did nothing wrong. Couldn't do much about their goal. Solid.
Rafferty: 5. Wasteful. Good player but kept giving the ball away.
Raggett: 6.5 Did a lot of work heading balls away and dealing with their threat. Played well for most part but possibly at fault for goal.
Towler: 6. Reasonable. Possible at fault for their goal. Communication between him and Raggett needs work.
Ogilvie: 6. First half he was sluggish and wasteful in possession. Second half he did improve.
Morrell: 6. First half he gave the ball away constantly and was outmuscled regularly. Second half much better.
Thompson: 6. Decent. Like the others, struggled to get a grip of the game.
Lane: 6. Had periods of play where he looked good, others not so much.
Piggott: 5. Did score but really struggled to control the ball and build up play. Should have had a brace but ended up being sent off.
Fairchild: 6. Scored.
Bishop: 7. Yet another team who constantly grab and hold on to him with nothing done. Battled well and scored with a nice finish.

Subs. Did nothing. Dale one nice dribble and shoot. Tunni not much.

Ref: 5/10

100% agree with that.

Cheers!

Was a strange game.

RE: FT report - Hammie - 15-03-2023

seeing comments about struggling to control the ball.
The pitch looked pretty good
but
with snow and very low temperatures it must have been at least a bit slippy unless Manchester rain don't freeze.

It was just basic control skills.

Heavy touch.

More game time would no doubt sharpen Piggott up which he's now not going to get.

RE: FT report - Pompey_in_Derby - 15-03-2023

Having been at the game, the playing surface was horrendous. Although a grass pitch, the bounce was similar to the early days of artificial pitches (remember us losing 5-0 at QPR in about 1981), with the added hazards of being icy and bumpy. Would have been difficult even for the best Premier League players.
