Putting aside a wish list of possibilities: and just talking about the next game; it has to be a case of getting the defending right first. Two bog standard corners, and McGilvery thinking he has to be an extra sweeper were the main problems on Saturday. An obvious question is why did McGilvery think he needed to do that? Is he frightened about the cover he is getting, or has he been told to do that?
I like Nicholaisen, and think he has real quality about him and potential; but right now he isn't doing enough of the basics, and must be a bit of a scape goat.
So he has to be dropped. The centre back pairing has to be the best we have got; and I think most would agree that Jack and Raggett would be ok.
Then for me Johnson and Brown would be good enough. We have got to bring a halt to giving avoidable goals away. And, then work from there. I'm not sure Johnson isn't injured? Bolton would do.
