Yengi looks like - Theyak2 - 11-10-2023

Our secret weapon.
He has scored 5 goals in 140 mins and change.
His header was an absolute 'towering' effort. He also smacked the crossbar.
He really could be the part we bring on to terrorise defences which are tiring.
I really didn't realise how athletic and big the guy really is.
The strength in depth is there this season
Our first 11 have always been able to mix it at this level but now the squad depth means we have replacements too.
Yengi will provide the x factor for me and it was a great piece of business to bring the lad in.
I took a mate from Brighton who is connected to their scouting system having previously worked for Gillingham.
His take on him came simply in a defenders mind (as he was) he said that his size mobility and simply athleticism alone will have clubs coming to watch him.

That was some powerful header.   Big Grin
He looked very quick, also.

Agree he might be something special looking forward to seeing how he develops
Exciting times at Pompey, isn't it?

Kamara's goal was a bit special as well.

It was but he isn't our player unfortunately

He is at the moment, Yak. Carpe diem

Stevenson is and he got a cracker too
Not bad for a reserve

A second-half substitute for Australia against Bangladesh earlier.

RE: Yengi looks like - Pompey_in_Derby - 16-11-2023

Yengi came on for the final 20 minutes. Australia were 6-0 up at the time and went on to win 7-0 against the mighty Bangladesh. The Aussies missed a last minute penalty as well - pity they didn't give it to Yengi as he's pretty good with penalties! Bit surprised that Robertson wasn't called up, though travelling all the way to Oz and back wouldn't have been ideal from a Pompey perspective.

Australia must have one of the easiest World Cup groups anywhere: Bangladesh, Palestine and Lebanon! Assume the away games against Palestine and Lebanon will have to be at neutral venues?

RE: Yengi looks like - dsmg - 16-11-2023

Christ, is that really their group??? Is that it or do they have to then knock out some other qualifier from Africa or summat? If that is it then that’s a piece of cake, especially compared with some European or S. American groups.

Think the top 2 in each group go through then have one more stage to qualify. There's something silly like 8 places for Asian countries plus an additional play-off place - all because the 2026 World Cup will have 48 teams!

The Palestine game is in Kuwait.

leading to a boring few weeks of nothing matches before the proper competition starts.

Yengi was an unused substitute in a 1-0 win.

The Australian squad donated a five figure amount from their match fees to aid the relief effort in Gaza.
