Chesterfield - TiHKAL - 23-03-2024

Promoted today. Pleased for them and Paul Cook. Regan Poole’s injury aside, I reckon they did us a favour this season. We got a wake up call and have rarely looked like we aren’t up for it.

RE: Chesterfield - Cunninglinguist - 23-03-2024

With that squad, they could well be very competitive in the league above too.

RE: Chesterfield - D'Alessandro dreaming - 23-03-2024

Tom Naylor at Conference level is absolutely insane. He'd be in with a shout of starting for us if he were in our squad.

He was good at breaking up play and came good with the odd headed goal but his forward passing left a lot to be desired. Good for us at that time though.

RE: Chesterfield - Gerry Hatrick - 24-03-2024

Not particularly impressed with Cook. My cat could have got them promoted with that squad. Still think Leam Richardson was the real force behind his early successes. I much prefer the quiet, calm and measured approach of our present manager to the raving banshee we saw too often on the touchline during our L2 campaign.

RE: Chesterfield - dsmg - 24-03-2024

Scored with an absolute rocket on one occasion I seem to remember.

I seriously doubt that. Pack is head n shoulders a far better player.  So are Moxon, Morrell & Robertson.

I meant innthe current injury situation. Very underrated footballer IMO.

Your cat sounds like the real deal. Mine's useless. Has failed to get my Cardiff veterans side promoted for three years now. Just wanders along the touchline miaowing like Darren Ferguson.

RE: Chesterfield - D'Alessandro dreaming - 24-03-2024

Onnthensubject of forgotten Pompey midfielders; Andy Cannon bagged a brace for Wrexham against Grimsby yesterday.

RE: Chesterfield - slayer - 24-03-2024

Good for them. They've suffered Drew Talbot too. There will be bottles of Peroni and piss in the lifts of Chesterfield this morning

Yeah Cliff, Wacky's got all the FIFA badges and knows everything about zonal defending. The way he used to mark his territory didn't go down too well at the FA but what do they know?

RE: Chesterfield - tl73 - 24-03-2024

Jacobs has managed to stay fit for 37 matches at Chesterfield.

I agree, good to see them back on the league.

Actually I think it’s written into Cook’s contract that he isn’t to go anywhere near lifts.

RE: Chesterfield - DeepBlue - 24-03-2024

I liked Paul Cook as our manager, a proper working class bloke for a proper working class club. He was a good fit and won us a champions trophy, and I've only seen us win three of them in nearly 60 years of watching PFC. I also think he would have got us out of League One sooner if he had stayed.

Leam Richardson was good too ... I always felt they should have stayed together as a duo.

24 this season.  And that includes when coming on as sub.

RE: Chesterfield - simonfkwit - 24-03-2024

I hold a grudge and never liked them since they sang "Where's your brother gone?" to Daryll Flahavan after Aaron died.

RE: Chesterfield - slayer - 24-03-2024

We have sung some pretty out of order shit at goalkeepers ourselves to be fair.

Transfermarkt says 37.

RE: Chesterfield - Hammie - 25-03-2024

Its odd how so many players that have been written off by online Pompey fans have played so many matches at the same or a higher level, and how so many of them have gone on to win things. Cook was concerned when he arrived about how few players stayed long enough to get properly comfortable to play their best at Fratton Park.

Transfermarkt says 37.

Wiki says 24.

Both highly inaccurate sources, but you are probably right cos soccerbase (much more reliable) says 37 too. Many of those as sub though (three out the last eight for starters but couldn't be arsed to go further).  Maybe Wiki's 24 is his starts ?

Thanks for the reminder Herman.

He was sheer class at taking set pieces & did get MOM award on here at least twice last season.

Was worth a 12 month contract extension in my professional opinion.

He just needs game managing. Can't always play 90 minutes but Chesterfield & PC know that.
