A poor, poor result and as for....s - blueinbrum3 - 13-04-2021

Marquis the less said the better. If he was fit it was a really bad performance. If he wasn’t fully fit why was he playing. This squad is looking really poor. A squad that any manager would struggle to achieve results with. Whichever way you look at it this squad needs to be purged. Certainly not good enough for the Championship if promotion was achieved this season and not good enough to produce a genuine promotion challenge next season when Pompey will almost certainly still be in league 1 despite the Cowley’s best efforts.

This result was so predictable.

The plain fact is that we have NO strikers, Jackett didn’t believe in them.

Anyone can miss a penalty but I wouldn’t have let Marquis take tonight’s one, he always seems to miss the easy ones and this was more important than usual.

If the Cowleys get us up with this squad it will be a real achievement.

At least we are still in with a shout and it isn’t over until it’s over.

Keep the faith if you can Smile .

Always keep the faith... it’s keeping the interest that’s difficult with the rubbish we are churning out.

Halfway through their 12 games. 13pts from 18 sounds decent but opposition mostly very poor. Ipswich: energised and resilient 8/10 Shrews: great first half and resilient 2nd 9/10 Rochdale: good half hour then disappeared. Hung on to win 7/10 Wigan: one moment of magic in poor display 6/10 burton: poor 90 mins 5/10 Crewe: uninspiring. Poor passing poor in front of goal. 4/10 Seems to be a pattern emerging!! I suspect Pep G couldn’t make this lot play well regularly.

To me they are just whacked now. Desperately need to trust the rested squad players and give a couple of the first eleven a match or two on the bench if we don't feel we can tell them to have a day at home with their feet up.
Bolton we now know can do a job, so let him. Stanley we'd love to see given a go, but would probably need to play in a 442 to give him an older head to help him through. Might even have to play 352 to use our extra fit defenders and rest up the wingers.

Bolton Byers and white. Cannon to return. Nicolaisen as part of a back 3. Am I missing anyone else who could come in?

It's a tricky one. The state kenny left us in means we have to pick up 10-15 points from our last 6 games to get a playoff spot. And that's after winning 4 on the trot!

Its catch22. Rest our players and risk not making the playoffs. Keep playing them and we'll be shot to shit for the playoffs. And to top it off, we have to do it with 1 striker with 2 left feet.

Cheers Ken

Indeed. My thoughts are rest a few at MK, whoever we can... give Byers white the Dane Bolton even the kid up front (sorry can’t remember his name), maybe lose that one, and freshen up key players for Swindon and Br rov which are must win games. That leaves us 3 games to get maybe 6 pts v accies who will have nothing to play for and Wimbledon.
