RE: Selling our best players to buy players - exterminator - 25-05-2021

Mark Kelly left because we didn't keep on any of his ex-yoof team players, I notice none of them have yet got clubs yet despite being on trials st Wet Sham & Scum. Why should we keep nippers who arn't going to be good enough ffs.

As for the goalkeeping coach, he was on same contract term as Jacksh!t & Gallen of Lard & liked his goalkeepers to hoof the ball dowfield all the time.

Managers & Coaches in new contracts are going to have to suffer same reductions in salaries as players - also Keily was a Jacksh!t choice - Cowleys need younger to fit in with new goalkeeping style of passing out from the back, good distribution.

Then some new people come in and are about the change the way things have been done in the last couple of seasons. Shaking up the coaching staff and setup. But you want to keep going the way that things have been done in the last couple of seasons as that hasn't delivered promotion. And change it at the same time.

You sound like Boris telling us to don't go out, but go out, as long as you stay in.

You seem to have the answers Septic. Let's have your ideas for how we should approach the coming season, for playing staff, for coaching staff, for ground investment and general running costs. What sort of squad balance would you aim for. Are you going to splurge the majority of your budget on a big name or spread it out a bit. I want to know what your business plan would be off the pitch for financial security and how you set up the team for sure fire promotion.

Please show your working which must show either break even or a modest profit and also guarantee a final league position of first.

Teef for two

Can I just ask you, how do you see the oncoming season, in the last financial report PFC earned without supporters season tickets 7 million pound from advertising and corporate, with just a little from t.v. Gate receipts 4 million from this amount we paid all staff wages, the upkeep of the stadium and running costs,  we did all this and still showed a million pound profit in the annual accounts.

The squad was reinforced by the selling of two of our top players for millions, now this pre season we have a couple of players when sold will possibly generate 1.5 million the owners have said we can use the sale money to build a new squad, what sort of squad do you think we will get for 1.5 million, what the owners are not saying is we will contribute any money towards the rebuild.

I hear you say “ well they have paid enough to see us through the pandemic” absolutely rubbish like I said our government has done that, so be grateful.

How can you set a team up to challenge for promotion when the investment is going in the opposite direction, can you imagine getting to the Championship, and what we would we need to be invested, these people would absolutely shit themselves, they are quite happy were we are, and wouldn’t even worry to much if we dropped a league, there financial commitment has been to buy the club on the cheap and that’s were it ends, let’s see over the coming weeks who goes and what better players are brought in to replace them, even more interesting let’s watch other clubs snap up our few good players for a pittance.

So how do you see our progression from the last season teef for two

He has a point or three.

RE: Selling our best players to buy players - teeftwo - 25-05-2021

The 2020 accounts issued March 2021 for the year end June 2020 show a profit of just £187,719. That's about twice the profit of a decent one man band IT contractor.

Perhaps you refer to EBITDA - which is just north of £2 million.

Can't imagine the 2021 accounts are going to be better considering a whole season in lockdown.

Turnover was £11.2 million. Of this ticket sales were £5.4 million, £2.2 from the Football League, TV was £900K, sponsors and partners £1.1 million. Where's the £7 million from advertising?

Employee costs alone were in excess of £8 million.

So on a gross profit of 3.3 million you can add player sales of £2.2 million, other operating income of about £500K. But then remove operating expenses of £4 million, depreciation and amortisation of £1.8 million.

Septic - Where on earth are you getting your numbers from?

RE: Selling our best players to buy players - PeterD - 25-05-2021

Why are all moaning about us selling our best players to buy 3rd rate players. Catlin and Eisners have set an agenda and the don’t give a shite what the supporters think. DC was cheap and desperate for work. He talks the talk. Why why why would our players take a pay cut just because the club has SOME MONEY problems. You have to laugh l am sure you won’t see Catlin or Eisners cutting back on their lifestyle. I am sure none  of our supporters would be the big man and tell their wives l have taken a 20% cut in my wages as the club have had a hard time claiming furlough payments etc. Get a life and support our better players who are willing to put their job on the line. I feel players like Naylor could of done better but they should be offered a contract on the same wages. If DC wants to get rid of players he should look at our hopeless defence first as these so called footballers still under contract and are robbing us of money being a crap player and not fit to wear the Pompey shirt.

You're correct ALL players should have done better, however NO club is offering the same wages to out of contract players !!

Clubs havn't had gate income for a season & a quarter, players, managers, coaches, physios, groundstaff, accountants etc  wern't furloughed. Some shop staff were doing online orders, the only people furloughed  will have been ticket office staff.

You and others of same views really need a reality check - the club have lost millions & you arnt going to get lost match income back, something has to make up shortfall and that unfortunately is the players out of contracts who are going to have to accept vastly reduced wages - they still aren't going to be poor ffs.

RE: Selling our best players to buy players - Mystic Meg - 26-05-2021

Wrong about Fulough every member including Kev the kit man
Accounts are outside sourced , Catlin went to play golf in Portugal with the the main ground sponsor.
What does that tell you

RE: Selling our best players to buy players - Mystic Meg - 26-05-2021

Suggest you archive the Portsmouth News for March 31st 2020 and read about Portsmouth and the furlough
Get the facts, wages paid by the government so the loss that's being bloated about is far smaller
Another fact when your in buisness you have to roll with the bad times as well  as the good times, just like everyone else coming out of lockdown  the Americans made an investment so that's the risk, now they are bottling it by reducing the playing budget

RE: Selling our best players to buy players - DeepBlue - 26-05-2021

Pompey made some use of the furlough scheme, but the losses were still far greater than any income from that source. They were covered by Tornante.

You are absolutely full of sh!t moosh.

Kev was furloughed for a maximum of 4 months when the  2019/20 season was curtailed along with the other staff members who wern't needed. We have been training & playing again since late June 2020 - who was washing the training kit, preparing the kit, coaching the players etc etc.

As with ALL businesses someone (the owner, PFC in house Accountant, accounts staff or a a bookeeper) has to supply the outside sourced Chartered Accountants with the figures for them to be able to compose the Year end Company Accounts - stop being thick.

The last PFC Company Accounts were for the year ended June 30th 2020 - so the full effects of the virus wouldn't be noticeable in those Accounts.

You really are clueless when it comes to the effects of the virus on football & in general - give yourself a slap and knock some sense in to your empty noddle ffs !!

That Catlin likes a round of golf?

That your numbers are something you got from a mate who once went out with a girl who had her haircut by a lady who's brother in law went on holiday to Portugal and spoke to a waiter who's mother was a cleaner at a golf course hotel on the Algarve.

So you managed to get hold of the accounts before they've been finalised, something that won't happen until next year. How exactly did that happen? Consult with your spirit guide? Because anything else would seem to me to be highly illegal and a breach of confidentiality by someone.

No, you know what - this is absolutely plausible. I can't believe I even doubted the veracity of your information.
