Explanation of ticket issues in the match programme - teeftwo - 16-08-2021

For those of you in attendance who bought a match programme there is a full explanation from Andrew Cullen in there of the huge difficulties faced by the club in issuing tickets for the first few games. It seems fairly reasonable to me.

Ticket waffle

Yep, I'm sure you're right.
In the space of just three months we've gone from a shambles on the pitch to a shambles in the 'back office'.
We all know that the pandemic impacted on Pompey worse than any other EFL club...so we're told.
Now we know that the late announcement by bungling Boris and his cronies had a bigger impact on us as opposed to the vast majority of other clubs.
Joke.

Removed. See below.

Looking at news about some comparable sides you'll see that Oxford have had ticketing issues that fans complained about. Likewise Sunderland also had many issues similar to ours. Ditto Sheffield Wednesday.

So going off half-cocked at Pompey seems a little OTT. But some people do like to complain without any of the facts to hand. Ticketmaster shut down a phone line, outside our control. Late announcement of capacity, outside our control. H&S clampdown on previously OK seating, outside our control.

The CEOs wife was in to help out at the ticket office as they were short staffed due to illness/isolating. The CEO was doubtless doing everything to sort it he could.

If you can suggest any way the club could have done better as well as all the other clubs in similar positions then do please share. Don't just dismiss a reasonable explanation. Did you actually read it?

I saw that Brum had two stands closed completely due to new and late health and safety restrictions. From what I read they had been working on it throughout lockdown then got told a last minute change as well. They had sold full season tickets and had to do a ballot to get a seat.
That makes Pompey and our H&S inspectors sound a little less disorganised and reasonable.

So stupid that with grounds closed for a year clubs are still struggling to keep up with the H&S mob and their constantly moving rules.

Whatever their issues were, all of Oxford, Sunderland and Wednesday had crowds bigger then their pre-Covid averages.

In the entire EFL only Birmingham suffered more at the gate than Pompey.
