Tony Dobson was on loan iirc then we signed him permanently. So slow with an oil tankers turning circle.

Not all loanees proved bad when we signed them permanently - Raggs, Clarke immediately come to mind.

Clarke was great and Rags, he really improved especially this season and was a big part of our promotion winning team. He was very unlucky not to get another contract. Yes he looked clumsy on the ball but he was great this season with his defensive duties. I hope he realises how much we love him and how much we appreciate what he did for us

It should be remembered that Raggett won player of the season in ‘22. His subsequent signing of a two year contract was lauded by some as the catalyst for the foundation of this squad being built.
Only a few bods on social media thought that Raggett wasn’t up to the mark.

Raggs being player of the season in a very poor side isn't that much of an achievement tbh. This season though very much was. I felt like at times last season under Cowley particularly, our midfield in that 442 formation was so easy to play around that Raggett would often be having to deal with more dangerous attacks with players running at him which combined with his awkward gait made him look a fair bit worse than he actually was.

Get Andy Griffin on this list - bastard. God loves a trier but how I wish he did it someplace else.

He still came out top. No, it wasn’t a great side. Interestingly, we finished a place behind Bolton and just above Ipswich. |
