Could we still get a last trip to Goodison next season?

They are trying to get to September before going into admin. They won't.

Unless they get another major investor or group involved. If they get more points deducted & go down end of story. Brand new ground but noone to play there Unless Liverpoolbuy on the cheap which would be very ironic! Food for thought though.

Shows yet again how fortunate we are to have the Eisners!

The more I read about their potential new owners, 777 Partners, the more dodgy they seem to be.
777 have been responsible for sports clubs going bankrupt in the US, this morning an Aussie airline they own went into administration and their UK media team has been closed down after not being paid!

When we were drifting between knobend to knobend owner, i remember any mention of anybody with a bit of what appeared like cash would be met with mostly eager open arms. Remember the Arab (fakim?) who stood on the terraces for a few games. From the outside, 777 are obviously poor candidates from the outset but I'm certain gaydamek would've sold to them. It'll take years to detach 777s grubby mitts from that club. Everton are too big to fail completely and id hate to see them relegated for non playing reasons even though they're a scouse club that'll whine so much i'll stop caring. But they really need to accept admin because they will find a buyer. One of the albatrosses around the neck that is their pride in being in the top league for so long and stopping trying to plug the holes below the water line and take the hit.

Al- Fahim (might be spelt wrong) I think it was, followed by Al-Mirage who couldn’t stand on the terraces because he didn’t exist.

They haven't got a prayer of getting anyone stupid enough to invest their money into that club now. It's already leveraged to the hilt and 94 percent of the club has a charge over it. They are fucked. It's a case of when, not if admin happens.

Are they going to do the classic, build a new ground and go bust so you don't have to pay for it?
Incidentally, I don't think I've ever made it to Goodison Park. Grimsby 3 times, Everton never, so that would be a nice final chance.

A long piece about Southend's struggles. Again, different to our history, but parts seem familiar...

If it wasn't so far away we could buy it

I just feel sorry for all the supporters affected. I remember the anger and the embarrassment. I will never forget it.

I know an Everton fan who was partcularly condescending towards us when we were in the Premier League and claimed we brought nothing to the top table. Based on his views, and the fact they've been stinking out the Premier League for years, i hope they get the book thrown at them.

If someone had kept a Jack Charlton style book at the time (and let's be honest kept it going since) and listed all of the fans that gave us shit, there would be a lot of teams mentioned in it.

However, you never met this Everton fella, he put me off them for life.

Ha.
Meanwhile, on football club "death-watch", we have another contender. This might better news for Torquay United with their many owners and administrations over recent years. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art...d09wyqe4po Is it just me, but I'd still hope that their Supporters Trust can get the cash together to buy the club?

Whenever we visited relatives in Torquay we took in a game if they were at home. Great little club. Like to see it recover.

777 currently own Red Star, Paris. The fans are not impressed even if they are promoted.
04-05-2024, 12:42 PM
Standard Liege, ten tines Belgian Champions and 100% owned by 777 Partners since 2022, were under a transfer ban earlier this season. I don't know if it is still in place but Standard are not in their Championship play off round this season.
It's not clear why any US based investment house would be interested in European sports teams with our culture of relegation peril rather than the franchise based closed shops of the US major league sports. We could speculate..... Also 777 Partners seem to have been, and again are (according to Bloomberg) on the end of a number of lawsuits from some of its lenders. They have alleged fraud among other things. The Torygraph today has a piece suggesting that the 777 takeover might be worse for Everton than relegation... All good news I suppose for Jezzer's Everton "mate". |
