How do you work that one out, it was a Pack stupid back pass that led to Shrewsbury nearly scoring an equaliser early in the second half.
See You Tube Portsmouth v shrewsbury.- about 1:25
Only Norris excellent save stopped them.....
Absolutely nothing wrong with the back pass. The mistake was entirely Shaughnessy's. He totally misjudged it thinking it would reach Norris, but Norris bailed him out with a decent save.
Shaughnessy looked a bit on edge all game I thought. Set up our first goal well but apart from that I thought he looked one of the few that the 'squeaky bum' time pressure was getting to. Thinking about it this could well be the first time in his career that he has been in this position.
The Pack pass back from inside their half was nowhere near Shockers & certainly wasn't going to get to Norris.
It was a Pack mistake 100% - he didn't look to see where Shockers was & didn't put enough on it to get to Norris.
It wasn't meant to be 'near' Shaughnessy FFS ... it was for him to run back to. He had 10 yards on their player so it was an easy thing to do, but he made the error of judgement of thinking it would go through to Norris or that Norris would come for it. 100% Shaughnessy's error.
Pack was under no pressure whatsoever, so decides to pass back when in the opposition half in the general direction of Shockers without looking " yet it was nowhere near him" due to the pace on the wayward pass Shockers thinks it is for Norris.
It doesn't have enough pace on the ball for Norris & by the time Shockers has realised that he is swiftly overtaken by the fleet footed Shrewsbury forward.
There wasnt any need for Pack to pass back, the nearest Shrewsbury player was at least 12 metres away from him. He had plenty of time to play it forwards &:NOT put Shockers or Norris in trouble.
