Fixtures 24/25
|

First 4 away fixtures are Leeds, Middlesbrough, Burnley and Stoke. Getting a good chunk off northern ones done and dusted before summer ends.
Swansea away on my birthday will be nice although I fully expect that one to be moved to a stupid o'clock kick off time.

It’s a tricky early set of fixtures though- but guaranteed great atmospheres for the first few home and away

Tough set of fixtures early doors..will give us a good indication of how competitive we are at this level.Leeds away is a great first fixture though, full away end .

Brutal fixtures but it might actually be better to catch some of these sides early before they have settled into their seasons.

5 points in the first month IMO and a slightly better return in the second month. Finding our feet midtable after first 6 games I think we'd all take that

Well that's a baptism of fire to start our Championship Campaign, will be tough, but Leeds like others can be beaten and if they lose their talisman Summerville via a transfer then we will have a chance PUP

Sky tend to like showing either a relegated team first or a promoted team and since they now control the efl I kind of felt it was due. That's me out by the way with the predicting stuff. Im pretty crap although better than that trolling coont who, as a pompey fan, will spent an entire season on this board predicting that we will finish with a league record of p46 w0 d0 l46 0pts.

How soon will we know which games Sky will be moving ?

What a solid respectable list it is this season, after years of looking at minnows and teams we've never heard of.

I’m sure I read somewhere that Sky say that all the opening weekend champ fixtures are live on sky.

Tough baptism of fire & we'll do well to pick up any points from the 1st 4 fixtures. We really need a couple of marquee signings to complement the frees. Don't leave it until the January window it could be too late then!

PAH! Piece of piss, first four games , four wins and twelve points. Meanwhile, back on planet Earth, it’s going to be a steep learning curve.

The reality of promotion kicks in when you look at the fixture list and no longer see a run of games where you think we could hit some form. To be honest, it was going to look tough no matter who the first 4 or 5 games were. That being said, until we are a fair chunk into the season we aren't going to know who, or what, could be seen as an easier run.

Having , by dint of winning league one, we get to try and do well at the next level. As that next level, the Championship represents a great challenge. To my mind, it is one of the most competitive leagues in Europe. Most weeks, most teams can give whoever their opponent is a game of football, nothing in this league is a foregone conclusion. Yes, some teams will have stronger squads. Particularly those working with parachute payments. But those parachute payments did not get Leeds promoted and not having parachute payments didn’t impede Ipswich’s progress. We have hope that we can start a new journey and after everything that’s gone before that’s priceless. How it pans out, who can tell. But enjoy the journey and embark on it with our usual enthusiasm the foundations for a better future have already been laid.

I can't see any mention of 11M player. £2-3 M more realistically maybe less. There's some good Free Transfers about then it becomes a bidding war to see who can offer the highest wages. We really need a Class Forward capable of 20 goals & a really Good No. 10 neither are going to be cheap.

Did you miss the discussion about Murphy going to Cardiff for 11m ? My point was that an out of contract player on a free can be a marquee signing just as much as paying millions for the same player if he was not out of contract. You talk about free transfers as if they are poorer players than ones you have to pay fees for and that just is no longer the case. And Bishop has proven he is capable of 20 goals a season, and I suspect Yengi will be even more of a force this year. I don't see striker as a vital position to strengthen, but one more as backup would be good because I wouldn't want to start with Saydee up front of those two were both out.

Just read & Cardiff must have been off their trolley paying £11M.
Point taken about Free Transfers but then it's all about wages hence Not accepting Current club's new deal. Bishop is capable with the right service but can't see him being prolific in the Championship. A lot of his goals came from penalties last season & Yengi really needs to step up. Maybe a good young Premier League striker on loan with a buy out clause could be the answer. |
