Supporters very positive on YouTube video, as are Colchester based Pompey fans.

Good luck to them. Good guys but not up to this level.

This seems about the right fit for them. Low expectations, no real pressure and they can rebuild their reputations a bit.

They should have the time to build the club from youth level, that seems their strength to me.
I would have been very happy to see them involved in our youth set up.

Needs to work for them. Conference after this if not.

Whatever they really do not want to end up working back in State Schools. Mind you they would be well placed to get a job at a very good private school that takes sports seriously.

I'm a tad surprised they're not stepping back in at a higher level but hey-ho I wish them well and hope they're successful.

Their main problem was thinking too short term and spending their grace period training up prem youngsters instead of building a squad. Not helped by not having any real quality to build on or adequate recruitment team.
Great coaches but not great managers. Glad they are back in the game and hope they get promoted.

I’m happy for them that they have got another job. Genuinely nice blokes

Signed.....
Bishop Morrell Rafferty Pack Not bad really!

Like many have said you can't help but wish them well.
Genuine blokes. There is question marks over their managerial ability though. Hopefully they've learn't a bit and can go again.

I recall Bishop being recommended by our centre backs when Cowley asked who the hardest player in the division was for them to play against.

In any recruitment, out of 10, you are going to hire two that smash it out of the park, two that are totally awful and six that are satisfactory.
I think the Cowleys actually fared better than that, but overvalued being a finishing school for Premier kids. The blend of youth and experience, and now and tomorrow, was not in balance. However I am in two minds about if they learn from it or if this has actually got them the job? On the one hand Hirst going half a year without hitting a barn door was not good for us. On the other Hirst now being a pivotal part of an attack force at Ipswich which is challenging for promotion to the Premier League goes straight on his CV, as does his relationships with clubs like Spurs and City. I would also suggest that kids are less likely to question his credentials and be content to be spoken to and coached the way they always have been, and that Cowley is more comfortable with kids than he is seasoned pros who have more credentials on the pitch than he does. All told I saw a future for him in the unders groups for a top premier team or maybe eventually England.

Spot on from Slayer.
As well as the "finishing school for Premier kids" they seemed to think they had all the cures for injury prone players "we'll change the way they run". Nothing against them, I just didn't buy their bullshit from day 1 and was stunned that they got a long term contract having failed their audition. |
