We had 11,000 in the Holmesdale End in 1987. Just needed a draw for promotion and were all set to go up until Palace scored a couple of minutes from time.
Had to rely on Shrewsbury beating Oldham midweek to secure our place back in the top flight.

Went there and stood in the Holmesdale End with me Dad in 1967/8 when we played Crystal Palace away on Boxing Day. Vividly remember it was a foul day snow, sleet and icy pitch Albie McCann revelled in the conditions and ran rings round them. It ended up a 2-2 draw as did the return fixture 4 days later - Albie scored in both matches. Interestingly just over 18k at Palace, with probably 5,000 Pompey, return fixture at FP attendance was. over 28,000 !!

Christ the fucking twat can't get enough of press conferences. Just leave us alone.
He was quick enough to drop them when he thought the danger was over in 2020.

Covid issues should never be about Left of Right they should be about health and truth; nothing else. The problem is that people who think tribally tend to align their views with, what they perceive as, their chosen tribe, rather than think about the issues independently and on their own merit (lazy 'group think'). I think the current divide is more about authoritarian v libertarian views/personalities. I will accept freedom with danger over authoritarianism every time. Before the modern 'left' completely alienated me with their corporate financed tyrannical anti-white, racist 'woke' shit, and their baffling support for the Blairs and the Clintons of this world, I always considered myself a left leaning libertarian (or, my preferred label, a simple 'humanitarian'). I still do think this way but I no longer accept the old labels as they have been bastardised, and see much of the modern 'left' as a danger to freedom and, bluntly, absolutely bonkers. Anyway, this old style left leaning/humanitarian poster desires liberty more than 'safety'. |
