If All of Humanity lived like us in Portsmouth, how much room would be needed ?

if we all live like we do in Portsmouth
Size Of Portsmouth
40.25km2
Turn figure to acres
40.25 x 247 = 9941 acres
9941 acres Divide By 238,800 People
= 0.041 acres Each Person

World Population nearly
8,000,000,000 x 0.041 acres
= 328,000,000 acres needed
Total size USA 9,833,520 km2
9,833,520km2 X 247 acres =
2,428,879,440 Divide By
328,000,000 =7.4

The Total world Population could
Live like we do in Portsmouth
in 1/7 of the USA 6/7 would be
EMPTY so would the REST OF THE WORLD !!!!!!!!!

Time too start asking the Right questions. You are told what to think..............

“ Stop with the climate change Bullsh*t.”

Lil’mix, I think you can actually say bullshit on here - no Victorian asterix required. Am I imagining it or do a lot of conspiracy theorists get all prudish when it comes to cussin’.

The other stuff you said after makes no sense so can’t really comment.

But the tories won’t have them on grounds of ‘aesthetics’, so they say - nothing to do with onshore wind construction being spread across hundreds of smaller companies rather than one big provider/donor.

Wind is not constant and we have no efficient way of storing the power as yet.

Modern nuclear plants don’t take 20 years to build, all it takes is the will to do it and you could have some up and running in 5-10 years. In the meantime we need to fill the gap with more North Sea oil and gas, along with fracking. It is madness not to utilise the resources we have in our back yard while importing oil and gas from countries with far lower environmental standards.

This is not a party issue, no party has grasped the sustainable power nettle and if ever there was a case for cross party cooperation this is it. We should lock all the bastards in a room and not let them out until they make a decision based on the facts and not political prospects. Mind you, people who won’t say what a woman is in order to appear progressive should not be trusted with running a whelk stall, far less a country’s energy policy.

Oh dear Gaffer, you've really sucked up the whataboutteried trans-juice haven't you. Interesting that this subject (which at best affects only 1% of the population) only comes up in interviews with Labour MPs, its almost as if they're looking around for sticks to beat Labour with and this is their only twig. Meanwhile there's an Amazonian forest of Tory fuck-ups, but everyone's pretending that it doesn't exist. You may as well continue to castigate Dianne Abbott for having a mojito on the tube whilst the UK trade deficit is at its worst since the 18thCentury. Also amusing that you call for cross-party cooperation in the same paragraph as the opposition not being able to run a whelk stall. Couldn't make it up.

Do you really think a nuclear power station can be built from scratch to full operation in five years? Really, is that what you think, honestly? Give your head a big ol'wobble. Hinckly C was announced as a site in 2010, approved in 2012, licensed in 2016, current estimate of operational start is 2026 - but that is only an estimate, and its worth remembering that Crossrail, the last big UK infrastructure project, was estimated to open in 2018, four years later its still not open.

And just to go on a bit longer, wind power can be stored. If the excess is used to pump water up a mountain, it can be held there and provide hydro energy on release. There's loads of incremental, elemental actions that can be made to provide cheap, sustainable energy it just requires the will to do it and a rejection of dirty fossil fuel money.

I've got covid right now, so I've got all day to prove you're talking absolute nonsense.

Isn’t it. Went on a real dip Tuesday evening, felt shit all day Wednesday, Thursday morning. I think I’m on the off-ramp (as current lingua Franca has it) just headache, sinuses and a bit knackered. Get well soon!

It seems to be rife at the moment - whaddyaknow they relax the rules on masks and social distancing and it skyrockets - who’d have thunk that Guff was wrong again. Dangerous times for Lil’mix though. Stay safe Lil’mix!

I see COVID hasn’t improved your thinking then Tufnell.

Masks and social distancing don’t work, if you haven’t noticed that you must have been asleep for 2 years ffs. Little Nicola is a fan of the futile, virtue signaling methods you describe, how did that go?

The reason there are so many cases is that the current variant is so much more contagious and evades the vaccines, it’s that simple. It is, however, relatively mild and not as deadly as the original versions, also the vaccines and general acquired immunity have cut the serious illness and death rates.

I’ve had COVID, just about everyone I know has had it too.

The age of death from COVID remains in the 80’s.

As usual you prefer politics over facts, no change there then.

So you’re saying that that the lifting of all restrictions and the point we’re at now where more people are infected than at any time since it began is pure coincidence. Jeez, listen to yourself…

Why is that nearly always people who don't believe in Covid don't believe in global warming either. Come to think of it they don't believe in the press either. Could it be that they in fact are the sheeple and have all been duped, not the other way round? Would love to read history books in a couple of hundred years, to find out who's right.

Yeah, you and dsmg.

I think the official algorithm for working it out is...
UK total population - ((total recorded cases)*(a bag of chips))/a racoon's arse

Because we understand the game, and it's all about control.

Man made climate change is a scam, it's about controlling what you can do, and robbing you of your money via climate change Taxes...

Look back at history and the ruling class have been at this game a long time.
Acid Rain
The ozone layer
Ice age
The ice cap disappearing
Global warming

Now it's 'climate change', why because you can say if it's cold it's 'climate change', If it's hot it's 'climate change'.

The sun cycles, controls the temperature nothing else.

And as for Convid, funny how the more jabbed a country is the more cases....

And as for me the un-jabbed still nothing, not even a runny nose, good old God given immune system.

I managed to avoid it for 2 and a bit years Essx75. I'm fully jabbed, have got through it ok but it's not a whole heap of fun. When you do get it, and you will, please let us know and be open and honest about how you are with it.

Fair enough Mix, thanks for your reply but it's obvious the ruling class want to stay top of the pile and keep the plebs down, but that doesn't mean that climate change, acid rain (irrefutable IMO), covid (millions around the world have died before their time should have been up), ozone layer etc doesn't happen. Sh t happens and nobody on earth can make stuff like that happen, especially not 0.000001% of its population. However, the rest of us can in fact cause change. If everyone stopped buying McDonalds and Coca cola tomorrow we would see some change right there. Man has an effect on his surroundings, of that surely there is no doubt. Millions die every year through pollution and there can be little doubt that things would improve if we used more solar, wind and wave power rather than coal and oil. I might be wrong...

If everyone stopped buying McDonalds and Coca cola
Dead Donner (not for me) and Coca cola No thanks, can't stand the gas, or the stuff that it leaves at the top of your mouth.(Nice cup of tea)

Millions die every year through pollution
I am with you on pollution, but this is not a problem they want to fix, as it's big business that is mainly responsible for it.

solar, wind and wave power

The life span on the equipment is to short 25yrs max, then they can't be recycled, same as battery powered cars, there is not enough lithium or cobalt in the world to replace fuel powered cars with them. And if you look at the energy over the life time of the car needed it's around the same as petrol.
