…and Guff, regarding not being able to heat vegetables: Richard Walker, CEO of Iceland
You’re as out of touch as George Eustice.

…and ‘Brian’ remind us if you will of just how long the interest rate stood at 17%….

What does the CEO of Iceland know about the subject ffs? He probably lives in the leafy suburbs and has somebody from Eastern Europe to cook his veg for him  Smile .

I refer you to the fags, booze, latest phones etc. etc.

It’s all about priorities isn’t it? If you put feeding yourself before smoking, scratch cards and booze then:

a) You wouldn’t need to use food banks.

b) You could afford to heat your root vegetables.

When I lived in Eastney, it was a common sight in the morning to see people in their pyjamas buying a small loaf, 40 fags, scratch cards and a bottle of booze (or variations on that shopping list). Later in the day they would probably have been off to the food bank.

If you give away free food people will come for it, obviously.

Did you always blame the poor, Exgaffer? Or, is this something you picked up somewhere (remember to wash your hands).
I’m not blaming anyone, merely pointing out relevant facts.

I was poor when I was younger, so I speak from experience, were you ever poor?

Try making an argument rather than coming on with all the sanctimonious bollox.

Seismic win for Labour in Havant St. Faiths, one of those seats where it would always have been said a donkey in a blue rosette would  win.  They won for the first time ever, and not only won but got nearly  twice as many as the sitting tory.

I've never been more surprised at an election result.

None of that matters, I didn't even bother to vote. The local elections are just an opportunity to have a moan about the current government.

Good result for the opposition parties. A total meltdown and johnson would be jogonson, they'd then have time to install the new guy, draw a line under all previous fuck-ups, claim a clean slate and get him prepped for 2024. With this outcome they're stuck with the idiot and his baggage all the way to the next GE.

but labour will still not win an overall majority at the next GE.

Yeah, maybe.

Now that UKIP and the other Brexit parties have been subsumed into the Conservative Party, there's one party representing the rightwing; and Labour, LibDems, SNP, Plaid Cymru and the Greens representing everyone to the left of them. Without a ProgressiveAlliance the FPTP system works only for the tories.

The Woking result though shows how they're hemorrhaging votes in their traditional shire constituencies to the LibDems. That's got to be a mix of the clusterfook govt, the no-deal Brexit-effect and the feeling that Red Wall voters are getting all the attention. But with a Sunak-made recession on the horizon, those RedWall voters could turn out to be pretty temporary.

Very true. Many vote based on dissatisfaction and anger about current situations. With all the crap going on with absolutely everything right now, much of it out of the government's control, this was never going to be a good result for any ruling party.

A very good Labour Government lost power in 1951, more because of a couple of years of massive snowfall and a big freeze than anything they actually did wrong.

We could have done, and we should have done and it was possible until the last few games.

I never said we would, just that we could.

the length of time 17% was the interest rate is irrelevant (l} you, I and the other gammon flavoured snowflakes paid iit. A distant cry from the decade or more snowflake 1/4% rising to a massive 1% recently.

Pissing myself today - voted labour and helped get a tory booted out of st faiths in havant - fook me miracles happen.
