Well, here's hoping. But just to correct you on the vaccines, that was all arranged whilst we were still in the EU. Member countries were free to join the bloc purchase and roll-out or make independent arrangements. We did the latter, which is probably the only good thing this government has done since 2010.

Its also worth remembering that it was international science, and not British exceptionalism, that created the Oxford vaccine. Of the 383 scientists and support staff working directly on the vaccine, at least 68 came from the countries that are members of the European Union. If Covid had hit three or four years later in our post-Brexit, brain-drain Britain, maybe the vaccine wouldn't have been found.

D. The EU doesn't want to buy our stuff anymore. They can get it cheaper and quicker from elsewhere in the EU.

Tuff, have always enjoyed your posts and 'debates' with Gaff, but on these two you're so wide of the mark.

The percentage of trucks bypassing the UK is so low as hauliers come to terms with paperwork requirements.  OK, so the numbers might grow but right now we still have a fair degree of our products collected by trucks passing through the UK pretty much as we've always done, and if you check you'll see the frequency of the Ireland to France ferries has already decreased.

As for the EU not wanting our stuff anymore, maybe you want to tell them that!  It's still rolling through the tunnel, boarding ferries and flying out of the cargo terminals and other than the ongoing Covid dip, orders keep coming in.  The whole of the business park we're located on in Milton Keynes is the same (for those that export) and here's a thing - we knew there would be changes to export paperwork, anyone with half a brain could see that coming, so guess what we prepared for it.  Three years ago we budgeted for extra staff in shipping and compliance from 2020 onwards, we made sure that every file linked to CE marking was fully up-to-date and when 1st January came around the world didn't stop turning.

There's a lot that I'd change to make doing business easier, but 90% of that was already in place long before the leave voters had their day.  Rather than constantly whine and find fault in others we just accepted the vote (it was democratic and free after all), got our heads down and made sure we were ready.  And contrary to what you read online pretty much every other exporting business we know did the same thing - those that failed to get ready deserve all they get.  I'm sorry but that's a fact.

I'd much rather still be in the EU as we've lost so much, but the reason my business will fail is down to poor products, low market demand or being undercut by Chinese producers.  I made sure Brexit was dealt with long ago.

Good to hear your business is still exporting Rick, but you'll accept that its squeaky bum time for any business exporting perishable goods .

According to the Irish Times the ferry links between Ireland and France/Spain are booming right now and though those haulage figures have rebounded a bit from the 68% drop, there's still a greater number of lorries returning to the EU empty to avoid the paperwork.

Direct Ireland - France freight traffic is up 447%

Export dent

In January 2017 the lazy drunk that David Davis promised:
"that the Tories would negotiate “comprehensive” free trade and customs agreements “that will deliver the exact same benefits as we have” as members of the EU."

You need to correct yourself Tuffers, we LEFT the EU left the EU on 31st Jan 2020 !!! There was therefore zero chance of us joining  a bulk purchase.

My son lives and works in Germany and talking him today the EU have cocked up big time over vaccines -as they will do in the future with many other issues.

You really need to get a life Tuffers, we have left, the UK will be hugely successful over the next few year OUT of the EU - think Norway 80% of their population didn't want to go in the EU in 2018 - it is a sh!t club.

We need to arrange a blood transfusion for you with nice UK blood replacing your tainted EU plasma.

Ex, that thing in 2018 wasn’t a referendum it was a survey - and it wasn’t 80% either. Interesting that every UK survey taken between the 2016 referendum and Jan 1st has - with the exception of just one - returned a majority for remaining in the EU. And also Norway is a pretty poor example - its a member of EFTA/EEA, so it has access to the single market. It also pays into the EU for the privilege and it accepts the four pillars of the EU, including Freedom of Movement. Apparently that wasn’t good enough for us - Britain (England) deserved something special.

Regarding the EU procurement programme, you’re wrong and no amount of shouty caps lock and exclamation marks changes that.

Here’s some facts

There’s quite a lot read for someone of your disposition so here’s an excerpt:

“The MHRA’s decision was taken in accordance with the relevant EU legislation, which allows member states to grant temporary authorisation for a medicinal product in response to the spread of infectious diseases (among others). [1] This legislation still applies to the UK until the end of the transition period.”

Your other random stuff about Germany may have had some validity if we didn’t have the world’s largest death rate (by population density). And we hadn’t crashed the economy for a tax evasion scheme dressed up to appeal to petty racists and British exceptionalists. Germany doesn’t know the first thing about proper cocking-up. We do world-beating cocking-up, with a side order of nepotistic creaming off.

And as long as your prejudices are indulged, you’re happy to let them do it.

Obsessed?
What with german sanitary conditions Huh
Not really.

If you're talking about the pound, well maybe that has something to do with johnson's roadmap he's just unveiled. I see you're falling for the spin: news good, its all coz of Brexit, news bad, its all coz of Covid (or failing that, those nasty bullies over the channel).

No "Coontlicker Boy" that was one of your mates in Froggyland.

So just to put you in the picture "manky minge licker" and for the benefit of  your bestest lefty loony mates Duffers and Jezerbel he doesn't live in any of those places in Heineland. He had a great job working for a UK company and earns the sort of money you filthy  serfs can only dream about.

As you loons appear to want to suck on anything EU  perhaps you can all go and live with "Coonty Boy" in Froggyland, in fact why not make a party of it and take "Billy Boy" along  with you as well.

None of you  will be missed in "Great  ?? Britain"

Ex, I'm assuming you don't talk like that when you're down the Co-op do you, so why do it here?
You're making yourself look ridiculous.

Feeling embarrassed for your son.

That should have read "has"  - no not  Armitage Shanks.

If you followed the Stock Exchange Jezebel and stopped trying to deceive everyone to get what you want, you would know that that company was sold to the Americans over 20 yrs ago.

Act like Lady Muck and you will be treated accordingly Big Grin
