Watching Argentina v Netherlands. The first final I remember seeing was 1978, and Argentina were about 10 minutes late coming onto the pitch, making Holland stand around waiting. Then they complained and a Dutch player had to have his plaster-cast removed. Argentina also had a very dodgy (and crucial) big-score win in the group stages. They used every dirty trick in the book.

Already seeing people stating they won't be watching the World Cup because of the attitude of the host country Qatar towards human rights, women and homosexuality.

Leaving aside personal opinion as to the rights and wrongs of a country to govern itself as it sees fit (fat change teef, they'll be at each other's throats before post number 5) will you be watching it and if not is it because of an ideological objection, because international football bores you or because you just can't stand watching the England team now.

Probably saw about 60 minutes in total - mostly through being in a bar where games were being shown. 

Avoided 5Live (a blessed relief, actually).

Did I really miss anything? Not according to Essix, it seems......but then he, she, it, they, them, sadsack knows fuck all about fuck all. And presumably his/her/their "misses" too.

Watched quite a bit. The reaction to the final was hyperbole. At 2-0 it drifted until France actually managed to get in behind the Argentine defence twice in a minute.

It was a good game after that but hardly the best ever.

I thought it was a great world cup; well organised, great stadiums, good crowds, good games and a very good final. I've a few friends who went out there (one gay for the record, even though its a total irrelevance and she went out to watch the football and didn't want or feel the need to make a statement or wear a rainbow hat). All of them without exception said it was the best football experience they've ever had, and some have travelled extensively.

I can say, hand on heart, I didn’t see one ball kicked. I know the two French scores (against England and Argentina) but that’s all.
The selection of Qatar had nothing to do with the promotion of football and the fans who went were ripped off.
I have absolutely no desire for Pompey to reach the PL either. Money has ruined the game.

I don't know a single person who likes the international break system, and neither do I know anyone who respects the organisation who enforce it. It disrupts the season and almost nobody wants it (unless it helps with recovering injuries). I'd rather be in a football wilderness than under FIFA.

Meanwhile, England Women's football presenter Alex Scott went topless at an award ceremony. Why don't presenters like Lineker not do things like this? If he does, I want him arrested.
