My instincts are saying fourth place. The reasons to be cheerful are as follows. We have a lot of what a club needs to go up. A very strong central defence, I can't stress enough how good the Poole signing looks. There are good full backs, a game winning winger in Scully, a goal scoring centre forward and hugely improved squad depth that should help us avoid getting exposed so pathetically by injuries like last season.
The reasons to be fearful include a young inexperienced manager, the jury is still out on him and a slow start would not help his cause. The lack of that out and out creative advanced 8/Number 10 so close to the start of the season is a bit of a worry. I am optimistic though. This is for the first time in a fair old while that I look at the squad and think "If not this year then definitely next year".

I think 4th is a reasonable shout.
My biggest worry is whether our fans will give the team time to come together at home. The away fans will back them pretty much regardless but at home we can be an albatross around the neck of young players especially. If we get on a positive roll at home it will be great but the fan base is not what it once was.

I totally understand the frustration at what has felt like league one stagnation having watched teams like, Coventry and Plymouth go from the league below then hop over us into the Championship. We missed our promotion window under Jackett and have not come close since as League one got progresively stronger. The fans were electric when we had our false dawn early last season based on a whiff of hope. I was also at Bolton away and heard totally fed up fans laying into the team almost from start to finish and given that run of form, I can't blame them. It's a fanbase crying out for something to latch onto to really really get behind the team again.
