I think that even the most ardent Brexit supporter would have been hard pushed to state that there would have been no early adverse effect from Brexit (apart from politicians, that is).

Probably best to leave judgement until at least the second half of the year.

I didn't think it would be long before one of our deluded Re****ers trotted out something like this ,
right on cue Tuffers the Duffer comes up trumps.

Very encouragingly imports from the European Useless (apt eh Duffs) fell by £6.5bn or 28.8% .If in the end that means that we manufacture and produce more goods for our own people that is going to be great for all in the UK.

The fact that companies have been stockpiling during the latter part of 2020 has obviously had a huge effect on those figures.

You cannot take one month in isolation, or even gauge the trends during a pandemic - come back to us in 2/3 yrs time moosh !!

Probably best to come back in 50 years time as Rees Mogg has suggested. You won't be around to enjoy those benefits unfortunately.

And there I was wondering 'suppose Tuffers posted a Brexit thread and no-one bit?'

Wink

I’m just keeping the Brexity-types up to date. You can keep on swallowing what the tory-crims are telling you if you like, but anyone with a functioning brain can see this is probably the greatest example of national self-harm any of us have ever experienced. I don’t think there’s enough storage space in the country to account for a 40% drop off. Scottish fisheries have seen a 82% collapse (ONS figures), is that stockpiling?

And this is actually better than it should be - currently we’re allowing all imports from the EU with minimal checks, so that’s only going to get worse. Basically, we’re fucked - we have no control over our future, in voting to leave we’ve become the EU’s bitch.

At least I don't read and swallow all the carp in the Granaudian Duffers, and I form my own opinions rather than hitching up to the loony left ideal as you do.

Anything that mucks up that "fish faced old boot" and the Sweaties is good, they deserve it!!

Are you really that thick Duffers - if as you claim we are allowing imports from the European Useless with minimal checks, what is going to happen when we do start checking. That £6.5bn or 28.8% drop in imports is going to rise significantly, much better for our balance of payments.... comprende !!!

Keep on spouting rubbish Duffers, - and I'll keep taking pot shots at you !!

"Anything that mucks up that "fish faced old boot" and the Sweaties is good, they deserve it!!"

So there goes the union, yeah good thinking Ex, let's reduce ourselves further - dispel any idea that we've not become a nation of small-minded bigots. Nice one.

And regarding EU imports, why do you think we import this stuff in the first place? Maybe its because we don't have the climate to grow it or maybe its because previous tory governments have decided we're not about manufacturing, and the unions that come with that, so that's not an option. So we're a nation that can't provide enough food to feed ourselves and we're a service economy but johnson never thought to negotiate services in the WA. So we're fucked. And we've eaten our last mango.

Cambridge Dictionary definition of pot shots:
Potshot - a shot that is fired carelessly or with little preparation

Yup.

Duffers you really are quite stupid aren't you, if we can grow more crops to eat, instead of leaving fields fallow or growing huge quantities of oil seed rape that those clowns in European Useless forced us to do, we won't have to rely on so many imports.

There is little we cannot grow in this country in glasshouses, what we can't we can import from Chile, South Africa or Australia, it is far better quality and cheaper ad well. Yes I got some beautiful Chilean Mangos only the other day.

I note that the first definition on Google from the Oxford Dictionary says "a shot aimed at a person or thing that happens to be within easy reach"

You and your Re****er mates are certainly that !!

Its half-time and we've been shit.

Rape seed oil is a bit of a homegrown success though Ex, so why stop it. And its good for crop rotation. And on a personal note I do like it when it surrounds St Huberts in Idsworth, looks especially good from the train.

Nothing to do with EU demands (quelle surprise)

I don't know that much about agriculture but I do know you can't replace farming shellfish with potatoes.

Oh and by the way Wiktionary defines a pot shot as:
A haphazard shot with a firearm, taken with careless aim, often fired at a random target.

Anyhow, second half beckons....

Farmers also got huge subsidies from the Euripean Useless to grow that yellow carp - I prefer Olive Oil, much better for you too !!

My Mrs suffers from Asthma and she hates the stuff, as far as crop rotation you never saw the stuff 40 yrs ago !!

As for the fish matter have you seen what Norway & Iceland have to say about the EU.

Whatever it is great fun taking pot shots at you
and your fellow Re***ers, it could become a national sport........

Well, seeing as you’ve had five years and the only tangible benefit so far has been 8p off a packet of Tampax, I think we’ll be ok.

You seem to have a very short memory "Duffers Old Chap" - we didn't actually leave European Useless until 31.02.2020 and then we were stuck with the transition period for the next eleven months.

During that time we still had to conform with all the EU anti trade with other countries import/ export practices. Hardly had time to get any other arrangements in place in the grips of a world health pandemic have we old bean.

I thought we held all the cards. I thought they needed us more than we needed them. I thought there would be no downsides, only considerable upsides. I thought the free trade agreement with the European Union would be one of the easiest in human history. If we were told all these things, why have none of them happened?

You mean they waited until everything had gone to fuck before making arrangements for our bright new dawn? When you go on holiday do you just book a taxi to the airport that morning, see what's on offer and take it from there?

Covid's no excuse, this time last year we were in Month 3 of the transition period, johnson hadn't turned up to five Cobra meeting to discuss it and was more concerned with his missus' baby shower at Chequers and getting Big Ben to Bong. But, if its a comfort, you go on believing what you're being spoonfed.

Ha, Ha, Ha,- You thought this, you thought that, how thick can you get.  It was quite obvious to most that European Useless wouldn't allow us to make other arrangements ffs.

Those Coonts have made things as awkward as possible because we have smashed their cosy little club.

You go on believing all that left-wing loony carp and we'll keep laughing our heads off at you Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Ex, are you that dumb that you can't spot plain-as-you-like sarcasm? I was quoting well-known tory brexit mp's. Of course it was obvious, and if you could see what a total shitshow it was going to be, why then did you vote for it?. Jeez, its pretty clear where the brains of your family went (ie. not you).

And btw, Brexit-Remain (Rejoin?) has never been a left-wing/right-wing thing - those that voted Remain were mostly centerist, from both sides. Laugh all you like, weirdy.

Ha, Ha, Ha here I am laughing at you again Duffers, as a kid did you always get what they wanted. Now you can't have what you want you jump up and down, Skweaming, Skweaming, Skweaming !!

We have been out less than three months, yet you seem to think everything was going to be hunky dory from day one, us leavers didn't think that in the slightest. We knew it would take months, if not years to build relationships with new trading partners, but the end result will be far better than the one we had with European Useless.

I see that some countries of the EU are showing their true colours by attempting to find anything wrong they can wrong with the Astra Zeneca jab. They are so jealous of our brilliant scientists and the roll out of the vaccine......can you go and tell them "jealousy will get them nowhere" ?

Ex, I was a middle child so I got pretty much fuck all.

You must be the last of the Brexit fanboys - your stubborn support of the cause would be admirable if it wasn’t so tragic. Even Farage is mimicking the Homer/hedge meme hiding away on YouTube selling penny stocks. This time next year admitting you voted for Brexit will be like the inverse of claiming you saw the Pistols at the 100 Club. Nobody voted for it, yet here it is.

Already evidence of that happening and it’s totally understandable. In the face of direct questioning, I’ve seen a hitherto ardent brexiteer wilt.
