JM yo get pompey to dominate ghe ball and use intensity to keep Bolton off guard.
1-2 win for Pompey League 1 Champions 2024!

No idea who will win tomorrow and that's mainly because I've no idea which Wanderers team will turn up - we are erratic. You will be champions but you have plenty of time to do it whereas we have to win if we're to have a chance of avoiding the lottery of the playoffs.
Rico Santos and Sheehan will both start and we allegedly have the bonus of our main striker Dion Charles making it to the bench after a long injury lay off. The other first choice striker Adeboyejo is still out but I suspect Collins has done enough in his absence to become Dion's regular partner in the longer term, so we might actually see them in action for the first time ever. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson will start with Collins though. Sheehan will play deep with Thomason and Paris Maghoma in midfield plus 2 WBs - probably Ogbeta and Cogley but possibly Williams depending on how Evatt wants to set up. Kyle Dempsey will probably be benched. Not sure if Jones has recovered enough from his Australian adventure to partner Rico and Toal in the back three - if not it will probably be Forrester. Good news is we have our first choice goalie Baxter back. Whatever happens, hoping it's a good game with a fair ref and may the best team win.

It’s quite a lineup you have there.
We’re putting out our third choice lineup, as our first teamers have largely decided to stay in bed for the season. Regardless of that, we’ve had the good fortune to have assembled the best squad in the league and fear no one (except Cheltenham). Hopefully, it will be a very entertaining match and we’ll win 7-0. Failing that, a 1-1 draw would keep most happy on here. I’d like to see you make it up there and if you do then we’ll be rooting for you for at least two games, against that shower of shite down the road. Cheers for joining in, we’ve bought an imaginary beer for you at your local drinking establishment.

Bishop will start and bring in Kamara and Paddy who will find plenty of space hugging the lines.
Either can score great goals and Paddy is due one. I think Ogilvie will not be pushed up so far but if we do dominate the ball, Bolton with a back 5 with wing backs will find it hard to get out. Yengi will relish getting after Santos as we all know the lad had him on toast at fratton. I rate Santos but that night he looked a beaten man like the rest of Bolton's team at the final whistle. Yengi rinsed him all night. Then there is Moxon who enjoyed his last outing at Boltons ground with Carlisle who tore them a new one on the break that day. Bolton are a good team and definitely could beat pompey but what Bolton will turn up? We know JM will have a plan and that Pompey will execute Last time it was intensity of the press and domination of the ball. Bolton couldn't live with it. Will it be more of the same? Their ground has a bigger pitch than Fratton, they may well try to exploit that space but for me that just opens space up for Kamara and Lane too. A draw will do Pompey nicely but a win is what JM wants. He's played that way all season, he's gone after points like they were going out of fashion. Play Up Pompey!

The last thing I want to hear post match is Ian Evatt saying "it's a good point against the league leaders". If it ends up a draw, I fully expect him to do the honourable thing and commit harikiri in the Middlebrook car park, ideally outside Gregg's with a vegan sausage roll to symboliise how low he has dragged the club's expectations and the dishonour he has brought upon the Bolton family.

I'm very relieved that we don't critically need a result, not gonna lie.

News from the training ground is that Santos' recovery from injury hasn't gone as planned so he may will miss the game tomorrow. If that's the case, Evatt could move Toal to the centre and bring in Forrester or Iredale but we'll have to wait and see.

Gavin Whyte has been looking so good whenever he has come on in recent weeks. Hopefully he scores from the bench.

The referee for this game has given out 93 yellow cards in 20 games this season.

Get a good rest people, tomorrow's going to be carnage!!!

I reckon the defence is going to be crucial today, we have to stop them. If we achieve that then our dominance in midfield will see us through. I expeçt battles all over the pitch and we need maximum aggression.
This is no game for players poncing about. The likes of Anjorin, Martin and MPH shouldn’t be anywhere near the bench. We need fighters. This is the big one, boys. This is where we have the chance to triumph, ultimately. This is where we have the opportunity to show our quality as rightful champions!

Heart says Pompey win, head says we will be lucky to get a draw. This is Bolton’s biggest must win game of the season. That, of course, can work for or against them, so who knows. God, I hate that feeling I get before games like this!

Thoughts go back to THAT play off match we had at FP against Leicester some years ago - refs, Lino's and decisions !

They are all "must wins" from here on in if we (BWFC) are to retain a chance of automatic promotion, but one game at a time and all that. If we don't beat you today, fair enough it's probably the playoffs for us and we'd be getting what we deserve - we can reflect on all those lacklustre performances we produced that were put down to injuries and our schedule as we squandered points earlier in the season. We should have won at Derby or at least drawn - another "must win" - but we couldn't finish and got mugged by a bad decision from the officials, but ultimately we are where we are and that's down to us, no excuses. On our day we can beat anyone, but will we bring the quality we are capable of today? I for one hope so

We, for a lot, hope not

They battered us yesterday.
But we are an effective team and know how to grind out results.

Get a load of this three fingered mutant hassling some of our fans and players. I'm sure we can all think of a few Pompey players in years gone by who would have knocked his last two teeth out.

Could've done without the fiasco at Horwich station in the pissing rain!
They cancelled the first train so that every subsequent train was completely rammed. Some visiting fans missed connections at Piccadilly and risked struggling to get home at all - the last train back to Euston was at 8:15 and arrived just before 11pm. |
