Here's one that is puzzling me.
According to local media Pompey are keen to tie down key assets after winning League One Championship.
Better late than never I suppose.
In 'football speak' there are are numerous terms but two you rarely hear at PO4 are 'extended or improved contract'.
It's a month since we were promoted but certain matters should have been sorted quite a while ago.
I accept that it's possible that Andy Moon and Co aren't on the ball and may have missed something but surely the Eisners must have tied down Mousinho/Hughes with a better more lucrative contract some little while ago. The same goes for key players like Poole, Lane, Bishop, Yengi, Shaughnessy etc. If not, why not.
But we hear nothing even though we must appreciate that vultures are beginning to circle and that Championship clubs are notoriously better payers.
Eisner Junior has been over several times this calendar year and these matters should have been sorted.
At present we seem to be more concerned about who we are letting go and making presumably arbitrary offers to players like Swanson and Morrell. Reminds three or four years ago when we effectively forced out our best two players...Whatmough and Naylor...that bit of utter madness probably put us back at least twelve months.
