Bit surprised at the lack of comment on today's game on here tonight so here's my old ratings to kick some debate off ....
I would say this was the best result of the season so far, but not the best performance.
McGillivray 6 : He'll be pleased with a clean sheet but he mishandled twice, which is unusual for him and did not have enough else to do to make up for them.
Johnson 8 : defended and attacked well, close to MOTM for me
Whatmough 8 : MOTM performance capped off with a goal.
Raggett 7 : solid and no mistakes
Brown 7 : Great delivery for the first goal and generally a solid performance
Naylor 8: His goals are getting better and better. Today's was probably the best yet and won us the game
Cannon 7 : Usual energy but occasionally slow to see a pass and loses the ball too often as a result
Harness 7 : I think he is better on the right than in the middle, and got some good crosses in,but he also gave the ball away a bit too often, but at least with him it is usually because he is trying something positive
Curtis 7 : Just about won his battle with Thompson but never looked like scoring and missed the easiest chance of the game
Williams 6 : He looked bright and worked hard as usual, but as usaul the end product was missing again
Marquis 6 : His partnership with Williams is not as good as with Harness or Harrison. Did nothing wrong but never threatened and seems to have lost that look of 'likely to score every game' which he had a few weeks ago.
Jackett : I can understand why he favoured Harness over Williams on the right, but not why he thinks Williams is a better partner for Marquis than Harrison. But you can't argue with the result and thought he was spot in to delay and not make many substitutions - if it's not broken don't fix it and we never looked like we were struggling and no need to rest anyone for Tuesday cos its only the mickey mouse cup and he can play the fringe players.
