Big game, big test.
Happy to get a point.
Would be a great start to the season to come away with something.

Often a good time to play the better teams, fingers crossed.

I still think we are a striker short for the championship, Leeds will be tough as will all our first few games, hoping for good results, and hope we avoid any disasters/hammerings PUP

I'm quite happy to get the difficult games out of the way at the start of the season as I'm certain we'll learn very quickly from any mistakes.
Then we can settle down and start playing our own game.

I reckon it will be the same as when we played Sheffield Wednesday first game, ( the pressure being on them) ; I have a nice feeling that we kick off the season with a well earned point from this one .

A draw would be amazing but as things stand they look too strong for us.

Mugging Leeds on day 1 is a statement I'd like yo see

Our squad is not championship quality yet, and Leeds are a quality side.
I think Pompey and Leeds are similar sized clubs and two of the biggest clubs at this level, not that it will have any outcome on the result. My prediction: Leeds 4-0 Pompey

Who are Leeds?
27-07-2024, 11:22 AM
Looking forward to this now. Flying over from the states for this.
Got hospitality in the Leeds home end, east stand upper. This is the type of game Pompey need to be involved in; our natural level is the championship with the occasional premiership appearance. Hopefully gone are the days playing small clubs like Cheltenham/Burton etc in league one. Hopefully we can compete in the championship for decades and stay away from league one.

What about buying tickets for Leeds then?
The match is less than two weeks away and, as far as I can see, the club is yet to tell us how many tickets we have or how many loyalty points you need to have a chance to buy and when? I assume we are not unique in wanting to try to plan going to Leeds, so WTF is going on? I appreciate as head of Disney, Michael Eisner was one hell of a businessman, but this is, as my American clients would describe it, a real "two-bit, Mom and Pop" effort. Or am I missing something?

Tickets for Pompey’s opening Championship fixture of the 2024/25 campaign at Leeds are going on sale soon.
John Mousinho’s men make the long trip up to Elland Road to face last season’s beaten play-off finalists on Saturday, August 10 (12.30pm kick-off). Blues fans have been allocated 2,000 seats in the West Stand, which must be purchased in advance, with no sales to away supporters on the day of the game. The quickest and easiest way to secure your place is by visiting our eticketing site. Alternatively, fans can visit the Anson Road ticket office. Pompey will be using the loyalty point system to sell tickets to away games. Category On Sale 100+ Loyalty Points Wednesday, July 31 (10am) 75+ Loyalty Points Wednesday, July 31 (1pm) 60+ Loyalty Points Wednesday, July 31 (4pm) 35+ Loyalty Points Thursday, August 1 (10am) General Sale Thursday, August 1 (1pm) Tickets will go on sale at the above times subject to availability. Two loyalty points will be awarded to supporters who purchase a ticket for this match. To ensure these are applied, please ensure the correct Client ID is assigned to each ticket. Supporters who have purchased a season ticket for the 2024/25 will have had 23 loyalty points added to their account, while fans who purchase a membership will have five loyalty points added to their account. Please note that these points are non-cumulative. For the avoidance of doubt, if a season ticket holder purchases a membership they will only receive the 23 loyalty points allocated to their season ticket, not the additional five loyalty points for being a member.

Thanks Bluetag and if you're not on Pompey's marketing team (joking) then you should be. It's self evident I suppose that Away Season Ticket Holders will get first dibs (as they should), so the max ticket numbers available via the points system will be less than 2000. As mentioned elsewhere Leeds were selling their single match tickets for this fixture last Monday (22nd July). That suggests that we must have known then, how many we would have. Pompey are selling their tickets 9 days later and aside from the not-knowing this puts up the price for just getting there. For info I checked return train prices from London (so arguably I'm half way there) to Leeds on August 10th earlier today and the cheapest at that point was £75. Just now when I checked it was up to £84. Who knows what the price will be on Wednesday, when we will finally know if we have managed to get tickets? Should Pompey have done better on this?

One possible thing in our favour is that Leeds have just missed out on promotion. I've seen Pompey do that and have a slow start after the summer.
Mind you I've also seen us start like an express train

3 points to Pompey then

That does not make sense if thats your score prediction, unless you're absolutely bonkers and twisted and really lonely ? Its on live TV in USA, why not watch it there with your pals and save the journey and the costs ? Maybe come back for our amazing cup run we will be going on this season ? Bring your missus too.

What I would like to know is how Weeds can get away with only giving us just over 5% of their
38k capacity. On that basis we should only be giving any away team supporters around 1,100 tickets !! I thought the home team had to give the away team a minimum 10% of capacity?
Somewhere else on here, unless the admin deletion button got a work out, I posted that Leeds away allocation can be nearly 3000. I have since heard it can go in two chunks, 2018 tickets to start and if the visiting club applies, then another 900 or so. I do not know if there will be any more for us though, so I will be hoping for the 1pm slot.
The Supporters Clubs get their chunk of tickets from the 2000, as well as the Away Season Ticket Holders, so there will be somewhat less than 2000 for Loyalty Point sale. |
