This time, though, we are really deep down at the bottom.
But, like Bolton last season, we have 2 games in hand.
Bolton won a lot of games so had a fair chance of closing the gap.
We, however, have won just 2 games out of 15.
Tonight we had a chance to start winning again.
The police had different ideas so stopped the game.
All because Millwall couldn’t get a train home if the game went ahead.
Yet I’ve been to dozens of away midweek games and there’s no train home at the end.
Unless you play local teams like Bournemouth or Brighton it won”t be possible.
A really pathetic excuse by the Old Bill.
I suspect a hidden motive. More overtime, maybe?

Here’s another scenario-
If that was a cup game, and it went to extra time and penalties, then with an 8:00 kick off, it would finish about 10:30, which would have been the same time as if they started the game at 8:30 on Wednesday.
Would the police have stopped the cup game at 1-1  after 90 minutes?
Are they assuming every Millwall supporter hasn’t the ability to leave the game early to catch their train?

But it wasn’t a cup game. It was a league game with no extra time and scheduled to finish well before the Millwall train was due to leave.

1980..Oldham away in league cup ,Tuesday night .Night in Chester ,followed by night in Liverpool both at relatives.Thursday onto Blackpool.Slept on B&B floors for 3 nights ,blagged a breakfast or two .Sunday bus with last of our money except for 10p.Got as far as M6 ..hitch hiked and a Pompey minibus picked us up .Blew its engine near Stoke.Took our chances and got picked up by a nice old couple who thought we were in the RAF due to our neat haircuts.Dropped us near Whitney.By this time it was 8.30 Sunday night .Walked until got to a34 near Oxford .Used last 10p to phone home .Old man came and got us with no complaints.One of many adventures .
