The sale of council houses, and the refusal to allow councils to use the money to build replacement housing, was the worst of the worst. All hail the rise of the private landlord and ballooning housing benefit payments, first time buyers stretching into their thirties, stalled families with births into the mid-to-late thirties. Tragic, and all to win one election.
And that’s without even mentioning the spaffing away of North Sea oil.
