Looks like he's going back to Charlton.

Going to charlton...oh well

If we have lost him to Charlton after agreeing terms this is a major blow to the rebuilding.
Getting him would have proved our financial commitment and encouraged others to sign.

That didn’t last long!

This shows what Pompey are up against during this transfer window. Given we probably need double figure incomings not the most encouraging indication when an alleged key target appears to fall through in this manner.

Why is anybody surprised ?
We are shopping in Poundland EFL…….and you only get what you pay for and Pompey aren’t prepared to pay enough to secure any decent player when we are in competition with other teams with deeper pockets / more ambition and where the player himself wants to join a progressive club. Oh well, on to the next target, better luck next time.

We drove his price up didn't we. Naive.

Gone to charlton amid either being trumpeted by cowley

He was at Charlton on loan wasn’t he?
He obviously decided he liked it there and they may have offered him more money. It’s like going for a few jobs and getting more than one offer isn’t it? You have to decide which offer to take. Obviously we all think he should have signed for us, but we are ever so slightly biased aren’t we? Anyway, that’s life. On to the next one. This is exactly why I don’t take much notice until players actually sign.

Yes Gaffer. I don't think Stockley's worth getting all depressed about either.

Just signed for Charlton. Shows where we are and possibly shows the Cowleys gift of the gab isn’t matched by money or their ability to sell Pompey to players? Is this a real blow to our hopes of building a team?

My sources informed me that the owner rated him & wanted him to sign permanently so most likely upped his wages.
He no doubt gets on with the manager & thinks the club has a better chance of promotion than Pompey. No need to panic yet but let's not leave it too late as we normally do. The owners really need to back the Cowleys with some hard cash. |
