Why not? Does it cost money to appeal?

Basically having spent a good chunk of time looking at the one camera footage and having taken expert advice, they didnt think it would be overturned

I can only repeat that with no goalkeeper it was a clear goal scoring opportunity even if there were some defenders around. If a centre back had committed that foul it would be a very dubious red, but if a goalkeeper does then it is a red every time. There are very few fouls by a goalkeeper outside of the area that are not red card offences for that very reason.

For me each and every appeal should be on a double or quits basis.
ie you get off or double the penalty. At the mo there seems no reason not to continually question every decision.

They can (and do) increase the number of games suspended if they believe the appeal is unwarrented, though i only remember cases of 1 additional ban.

Let them do some work.... Everyone should have the right to appeal.
And no way should they add extra games to a ban, if unsuccessful.

...Gary Lineker escaped a red there.

He was running the line for the Pompey Fulham game, you know that 4-4 when we were 4-0 up at half time. Boxing day 1984? I started watching Man U v Fulham tonight with 15 mins to go (15 mins to go, we were 4-1 up in that game you're talking about, New Years Day 85). I haven't seen many worse 3 minute meltdowns than Fulham had tonight. 11 v 11, 15 mins to go, 1-0 up. 3 mins later, no manager, 9 men, 2-1 down. Trying to think if we've ever had a 3 mins like that?

Two three minute spells I remember: Mick Tait scoring a hat trick on a Tuesday night in Div 4 many moons ago (ok, maybe it was 5 minutes) and, as mentioned recently, three men getting sent off at Sheffield Utd, again probably a bit over 3 mins but pretty damn quick.

We scored a goal for every Exeter fan there. Poor buggers. |
