Jackett finished it for me. After watching lots of previous managers trying their best to play football to please the fans and getting mostly successful results, it felt great to be a Pompey fan. It’s not always about success, goodness knows we’ve had our fair share of failures. It’s just that all we want from our players is 100% effort every time they cross that line.
When we ended back down in Div 4 (L2), I could stomach that , other than the Barker debacle it was OK, at least we had a team. However, Paul Cook raised our hopes and ambition with his attacking if not over complicated style of play. Then came the Jackett era, one of the most depressing periods in being a Pompey fan IMO, no progression, no skill, no desire, no ambition just 100% apathy.
I do want to give the Cowleys a chance , of course, and I would love the Eisners to open their purse strings slightly on the squad front.
I don’t think we’ll go up this year , however, I’m hoping next season after another summer transfer market that we’ll do it. If not , I’ll have to give some serious thought to renewing my ST after that. However, at this point I remain optimistic. PUP PPU.
