Clubs need to issue instructions to help the ref NOT train and insist on professional players continually haranguing the officials.
Listening to Michael Doyle's on Solent a few games ago, his biggest bugbear with Pompey was not sideways passing, lack of crosses or any of the rest. He went on endlessly about not getting in the ref's face enough.
One ref against 22 players has got to be an incredible individual to cope with that week in year out.
Watching the NFL, whenever there is any decision at all, all the officials pile around the main ref, the one with the stripy hat. A lot easier to cope with your mates around you and all those extra pairs of eyes and a video screen pitch side.
